This is the bird's nest that shocked the world.
Despite their small size, what these sparrows can do makes many people surprised and admired.
From a distance, one would think that this tree is deformed or has a special shape. But no, this is actually a bird's nest, home to more than 500 birds.
It sounds strange, woodpeckers usually have the habit of building a small, pretty nest for themselves, but why are these birds so united, they can build a huge "castle" on a tree branch for the whole family to enjoy?

It is true, in an arid plain on the border between South Africa and Namibia, scientists have discovered a giant bird nest built by about 500 talented "bird architects". This bird belongs to the Ploceidae family of sparrows, has a small, agile shape.
According to biologist Gavin Layton of the University of Miami, this world's largest bird nest has existed for hundreds of years. It weighs about 907 kg, is 6 meters long, 4 meters wide, 2 meters thick, and has about 100 compartments.

According to Mr. Gavin's speculation, this bird species chooses different branches to create the nest's frame, then uses dry grass, feathers, and cotton to create small compartments. Each small compartment has its own entrance, and each compartment is home to 3 to 4 birds.
On cold winter nights, the outside temperature can drop to below zero, but the temperature inside the bird's nest is still warm at 21-24 degrees Celsius. In hot summer, the temperature inside the nest is still very cool thanks to being made of dry grass, straw...

The nest not only helps the birds avoid the cold and heat, but also helps them unite to fight against enemies. When an enemy attacks, the birds will surround the "intruder" and send warning signals to their fellow birds. However, there are still some large birds that attack and threaten the safety of the whole flock or some other species come to "stay".

One thing that people wonder is why the whole flock of birds can coordinate so well to make such a giant nest. According to scientists' research, the leader birds will control and punish the lazy bird during the process of building the giant nest.
If they shirk their nest-building responsibilities, they may be chased away, and when they return, they become more cooperative. And so, generation after generation, the birds continue to build larger and larger nests.
