At the invitation of the Party Central Committee, a delegation of the Communist Party of India (CPI) led by Mr. Suravanram Sudhakar Reddy, General Secretary of the CPI, visited and worked in Vietnam from May 23 to 29.

On the afternoon of May 28, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received and had a friendly exchange with the delegation.

At the reception, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed the delegation of the Communist Party of India to visit Vietnam, considering this an important milestone and a vivid manifestation of the traditional friendship between the two Parties and peoples; thanked the Communist Party of India for its support and assistance to the Vietnamese people during the past resistance war as well as its solidarity and friendship activities with Vietnam today.

The General Secretary briefed on important documents of the 11th National Party Congress, on Vietnam's socio-economic situation, and on major policies for socio-economic development in the coming time.

The General Secretary said that in the coming time, the two Parties need to continue promoting relations such as exchanging delegations, exchanging theories, sharing experiences and practices in implementing the renovation policy, economic development, and in Party building and development.

The General Secretary emphasized that the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries has a long-standing relationship and hoped that the Communist Party of India, with its important role in Indian politics, will continue to actively contribute to further strengthening the multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership between Vietnam and India.

CPI General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy expressed his delight at leading a high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of India to visit Vietnam, thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for his warm and friendly sentiments towards the delegation, and informed the General Secretary of the good results of the talks between the delegations of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of India.

Mr. Sudhakar Reddy highly appreciated and warmly congratulated the great and historic achievements that the Vietnamese people have achieved in the renovation process, expressing his firm belief that the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress, successfully achieving the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.

The CPI General Secretary affirmed that the Communist Party of India will do its utmost to continuously consolidate and further develop the traditional friendship between the two Parties and peoples, contributing to strengthening bilateral relations in the spirit of strategic partnership.

Previously, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Mr. Hoang Binh Quan, member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central External Relations Commission, held talks with the delegation of the Communist Party of India led by General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy.

The two delegations informed each other about the situation of each Party and the socio-economic situation of each country, exchanged opinions on international and regional issues of mutual concern, and discussed specific measures to strengthen relations between the two Parties and two countries in the coming time.

During their visit to Vietnam, the delegation of the Communist Party of India visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, visited his residence and workplace, visited Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh province; worked with Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, former Vice President, President of the Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation; visited and worked with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Communist Magazine./.
