Promote the implementation of issuing standard signs to serve tourists

The General Department of Tourism has just issued an official dispatch requesting the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of provinces and cities to step up the issuance of signs of meeting tourist service standards for business establishments.

The implementation content focuses on issues such as: Dissemination and guidance for food and beverage service establishments, shopping establishments, research, and preparation of registration dossiers for granting signs that meet standards for serving tourists; establishment of an appraisal council, review and decision on granting signs according to regulations.

At the same time, inspect, monitor and require establishments to maintain the quality of service according to standards, strictly implement price posting and sell at the listed price; publicly and widely disseminate the list of units that have been granted signs of meeting standards for serving tourists and the list of service establishments that have committed fraud, forced customers, and failed to ensure service quality; learn from experience and replicate the issuance of signs at tourist areas and spots in the area.

In recent times, the Vietnamese tourism industry has achieved encouraging results, contributing positively to the economic and social development of the country. However, in addition to the advantages and achievements, the tourism industry has also revealed many limitations, especially in the control of quality, prices of services, goods, hygiene, food safety, environmental sanitation, etc., which negatively affect the image and competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism.

In Official Dispatch No. 221/TB-VPCP dated June 26, 2013 of the Government Office announcing the conclusion at the National Online Conference on improving Vietnam's tourism environment on June 6, 2013, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, Head of the State Steering Committee on Tourism, requested ministries, branches and localities to coordinate and synchronously deploy solutions to prevent and handle acts of harming the safety and lives of tourists, contributing to improving Vietnam's tourism environment./.
