To date, the Ministry of National Defense has implemented 53 projects with a total length of about 2,049km.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung pointed out: The border patrol road is a project of special strategic importance in protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the national border, developing the economy, culture and society in the border area. The Prime Minister commended and requested the construction units of the Ministry of National Defense to continue to overcome difficulties, promote the results and experiences of phase I, and construct the projects of the border patrol road phase II on schedule, ensuring quality.

Nghe An has 419 km of national land border, with 116 border markers passing through 6 districts and 27 border communes, adjacent to the provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, and Bolikhamxay of the Lao PDR; the terrain is mainly dense forests, rugged mountains, harsh climate, and difficult transportation. In recent times, local Party committees and authorities, the Provincial Military Command, and the Provincial Border Guard have closely coordinated, creating favorable conditions for units of the Ministry of National Defense to survey, design, and construct border patrol roads in the province to ensure progress and quality.
