(Baonghean) - The early spring weather is cold and drizzly due to the influence of the northeast monsoon. However, on the key project of Ben Thuy II Bridge, officers, engineers, and workers of the contractors of the Construction and Transport Construction Corporation 4 (Cienco4) have started construction in a hurry to complete the project on May 19, 2012.
The atmosphere at the construction site was more bustling and enthusiastic when the Ministry of Transport, Project Management Board 85 (QLDA 85) and the General Construction Corporation for Traffic Works 4 held the launching ceremony of the Spring of Nham Thin 2012 on the 9th day of Tet, the second day after the traditional Tet holiday, right at the Ben Thuy II Bridge construction project.
Together with engineer Nguyen Sy Tho, Deputy Head of the Human Resources Department in charge of labor safety of Company 473, we went to the place where the company's two bridge teams were constructing the T16 pier, the most geologically difficult pier in the middle of the Lam River. The first person I met was bridge engineer Phan Duc The, team leader of bridge team 6. After 8 years of graduating, The has become a fairly solid engineer in his field, and together with the bridge team, has completed many difficult tasks for the company.
Workers of bridge team 6, Company 473 install steel formwork
However, he modestly did not talk about himself but introduced to me the high-level technical worker 7/7 Tran Van Hai, in charge of the first attack team, who has been involved in bridge construction for decades, and Nguyen Doan Thu, a young worker, along with a number of other workers who are active factors contributing to building the 473 brand and the Cienco 4 brand. Engineer Phan Duc The said: To ensure progress, the team's workers stayed at the construction site until the 28th of Tet and after Tet, from the 4th, the whole team was present at the construction site, working despite the cold and drizzle, installing steel formwork on the Ko block construction floor.
With a dark complexion due to many constructions, engineer Nguyen Xuan Hai, Director of Company 473, said that the unit undertook the 3.4 package to construct the T16 river pier and the river crossing span. Although the most difficult stage in the bridge construction, with limited capital, to ensure the overall progress, the unit had to borrow tens of billions of dong from the bank to serve the construction, reaching a total installation value of over 126 billion dong. Thanks to that, before the flood season in the middle of last year, the company completed the construction of bored piles including 36 piles 62.5m long, 1.5m in diameter and completed the lower part of the bridge pier and half of the 120m cantilevered girder span. On the first day of spring, the company started the construction of a 27m long Ko block on pier T16.
Ben Thuy II Bridge is a key project of the State, aiming to reduce the load on the degraded Ben Thuy I Bridge, improve cross-Vietnam transport capacity, and contribute to promoting socio-economic development of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces and the Central provinces. Ben Thuy II Bridge, the northern starting point at Km24+120 of Vinh City bypass and the final point at Km18+500 of National Highway 8B in Nghi Xuan Commune (Ha Tinh); total bridge length 2,940m, roadbed and bridge deck width 25m, nearly 800m upstream from Ben Thuy I Bridge. In the immediate future, the project will use nearly 1,260 billion VND in government bond capital. The formation of Ben Thuy II Bridge will be a highlight on the North-South tourist route and the East-West corridor, along with Cua Lo-Song Lam-
Construction Corporation of Transport Works 4 (Cienco4) with extensive experience in the past was the main force in constructing Ben Thuy Bridge I. Now, there are 5 units participating in the construction of Ben Thuy Bridge II, namely Joint Stock Company 473, 479, 471, 465 and 482, directly contracting with the Investor Project Management Board 85, accounting for more than 75% of the total value.
479 Joint Stock Company has completed the bored piles, main pillar concrete, main pillar reinforcement, and permanent steel casing for its bid package. In reality, there is a conflict between the progress requirements and capital payment between the investor and the contractor. The two companies 473 and 479, which have a bid value of up to 2/3 of the project, had to borrow from the bank to put into construction more than 190 billion VND by the end of the third quarter of 2011, but have only received nearly 60% payment from the investor. 473 Company alone in this project has not received 30 billion VND in payment.
However, with the spirit of starting the new spring, Project Management Board 85, Traffic Construction Corporation 4, construction units and consultants have signed a commitment to compete to overcome difficulties, focus all resources, and strive to complete the project on schedule, close the project on the occasion of the 122nd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, May 19, 2012 and open it to technical traffic at the end of June 2012. General Director of Cienco4 Le Ngoc Hoa said that to ensure the progress of the transport sector, Project Management Board 85, Supervision and Design Consultants need to pay attention to improving the quality of bridge construction and creating conditions for the construction unit of Ben Thuy II sub-toll station to serve the capital recovery of Vinh bypass.
