Speed up the progress of renovating the Hue citadel system
In 2013, Thua Thien-Hue province focused on speeding up the progress of the project to preserve, restore and embellish the Hue citadel system.
The project has a total investment of nearly 1,300 billion VND, implemented in the period 2012-2015.
In phase 1, the province strives to complete the construction of apartment buildings to pilot compensation and resettlement support for the Southern Upper Citadel area from the South Gate (Nha Do) to the Southeast Gate (Thuong Tu) and the Nam Thang and Nam Xuong estuaries.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Center (the investor of the relic restoration and embellishment component) is developing a specific plan for the areas of the Upper Citadel, the Eo Bau, and the Ty Ba Vien campus.... On that basis, in coordination with the Hue City People's Committee, develop a comprehensive compensation and resettlement support plan for the entire project.
Up to now, Hue city has built three 4-storey apartment buildings worth 58.9 billion VND on Nguyen Van Linh street, Huong So ward, including 98 apartments, preparing to be accepted on March 20.
As for the two remaining 4-storey apartment blocks (CC2, CC3) in Huong So area, the documents have been completed, and the design unit has completed the sample design documents.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province, Mr. Nguyen Van Cao said that after completing phase 1, the People's Committee of Hue city will organize a preliminary review to synthesize, draw experience, check feasibility and socio-economic efficiency before continuing to implement the remaining resettlement part.
The province assigns specific responsibilities to organizations and individuals who are primarily responsible for developing and perfecting compensation and resettlement support policies for phase 1, while drawing on experience and agreeing on resettlement support plans using land with appropriate areas for special cases.
For compensation and resettlement support plans and policies, they must be appraised and approved by the Provincial Advisory Council for resolving difficulties in organizing compensation, support for clearance and resettlement before being submitted to competent authorities for approval according to regulations.
The investment project to preserve, restore and embellish the Hue Citadel system, invested by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the People's Committee of Hue City, focuses on restoring and embellishing the outer wall of the Hue Citadel (circumference of about 10km), evacuating nearly 1,000 households living in the upper citadel and Eo Bau area in Hue Citadel, repairing the entire system of embankments and ditches that have mostly been damaged and eroded, dredging the filled-in moats, repairing the citadel walls, reinforcing and renovating the bridge and culvert system.../.
