To let the press accompany the development of the province in the cause of innovation

On the occasion of the 86th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2011), on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, I would like to send my respectful greetings, warm congratulations, and express my sincere thanks to the leaders, press agencies, journalists, and distinguished guests attending today's meeting!

Dear delegates and comrades!

Over the past 86 years, the press has become an important part of the revolutionary cause of our entire Party and people. Press agencies have always performed well their functions as the mouthpiece of the Party, the State, socio-political organizations, mass organizations, and the people's forum. The press has actively propagated Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, especially in the recent past, effectively propagating the Campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh", Party congresses at all levels, elections of deputies to the 13th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels. The press has promptly reported important events to the people; vividly reflected the renovation process, praised good people, good deeds, typical advanced collectives and individuals in the patriotic emulation movement; honestly reflected the thoughts and legitimate aspirations of the people; has many initiatives and actively participates in the "gratitude" movement, social and charitable activities.

With these activities, the press has made an important contribution to raising people's knowledge, protecting and promoting good traditional and cultural values; fighting against corruption, waste, and negative phenomena in society; opposing wrong views and ideologies, creating consensus in society, contributing to maintaining political stability, social health and promoting the socio-economic development of the homeland and country.

With the rapid development of the press force, Nghe An is becoming one of the press centers of the country with 39 press agencies, of which 33 are representative agencies and permanent central press agencies present in the area. The number of journalists and people working in press agencies is increasingly large. Central and local newspapers and radio stations always pay attention, give priority, publish relatively complete, comprehensive and timely information on all developments of political and social life, contributing significantly together with the Party Committee and provincial government to well perform the tasks of socio-economics, national defense and security, and Party building work in the area.

Many incidents were promptly addressed by newspapers and radio stations, orienting information, contributing efforts to help localities overcome difficulties, sharing hardships, helping people, leaving a deep impression and good relationship with the Party Committee and people of the province, typically: the boat sinking in Chom Lom village (Con Cuong), flash floods in Nam Giai (Que Phong), the collapse of the stone quarry at Ban Ve Hydropower Plant, the collapse of the Len Co stone quarry...

The Party Committee and people of Nghe An province acknowledge and highly appreciate the great contributions of press agencies to the common cause of the whole country, including the development cause of the province.

Dear comrades!

Entering a new phase with increasingly greater requirements and tasks, in addition to basic advantages, Nghe An will still have to face many difficulties and challenges, requiring high determination, solidarity and good consensus to overcome and develop. The Party Committee and people of Nghe An hope to receive the attention, sharing and positive contributions of the press and journalists, to support and help the province successfully implement the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress. In the immediate future, together with the province, we will well implement the following contents:

Firstly, strengthen and promote the good relationship between central and local press agencies with Nghe An province. Continue to innovate the content and form of information so that press activities are always on the right track and increasingly attractive to the public; provide a lot of information and cultural products with good content to introduce and widely promote the image of Nghe An domestically and internationally; contribute to creating high consensus in society and encourage all classes of people to compete to successfully implement the socio-economic, defense - security and political system building goals set by Party congresses at all levels.

Second, press agencies should coordinate better with the province to strengthen the management of press representative and resident agencies in the area. Pay attention to improving the quality of staff and reporters of representative and resident agencies. Create conditions for staff and reporters of representative and resident agencies to regularly be trained, fostered, and improve their political awareness and professional skills to promote the strength, enhance the position and importance of press representative and resident agencies.

Third, coordinate to handle well the "incidents" that are not good in press activities, affecting the reputation of the newspaper, the reputation of the representative and resident agencies and the environment for genuine press activities. Pay attention to promoting the professional ethics of journalists, especially the heart, morality, social responsibility and knowledge of journalists. It is necessary to consider carefully and cautiously when informing about "sensitive" issues, about new things (including good and bad aspects), so that the press can increasingly perform its function of orienting public opinion, aiming to create high consensus among all classes of people.

The Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee will always pay attention and create the best conditions for the press to operate and develop, contributing more and more effectively to the development of the homeland and the country. At the same time, the provincial leaders always wish to listen to and absorb the valid opinions, intellectual and dedicated contributions of press agencies and journalists to the development of the province.
