Attending the conference were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; leaders of ministries and branches; veteran journalists and hundreds of outstanding journalists representing 22,000 members - journalists working at more than 800 press agencies nationwide.
From nearly 300 members at its first establishment in the Viet Bac resistance base on April 21, 1950, through 9 Congresses, to date, the Journalists Association has grown in both quantity and quality with 22,000 members, operating across the country.
Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Thuan Huu affirmed: The Vietnam Journalists Association in particular, and the Vietnamese Press in general, always remember the contributions of the Party, Uncle Ho, and the Party and State leaders through the periods who have cared for, educated, and trained the team of journalists, and appreciate the trust and support of the people in the process of building and developing the press.
Over the past 65 years, the Vietnam Journalists Association has affirmed the position and role of journalists as shock troops on the ideological and cultural front in the flow of the times. Tradition is a solid foundation, now is the time for journalists and members nationwide to follow, extend and promote the achievements of the Association. The patriotic emulation movements of journalists have truly become revolutionary actions, the driving force for the development of the Association.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Dinh The Huynh affirmed that the conference was an opportunity for all levels of the Association, members and journalists nationwide to be proud of their glorious traditions and promote their achievements. At the same time, this was also an opportunity for journalists nationwide to seriously overcome their limitations, deeply understand the functions and tasks of the Revolutionary Press, the principles and purposes of each press agency, propose practical solutions to improve the quality and social effectiveness of the press, build an increasingly strong Association, and contribute more to the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland.
The Vietnam Journalists Association needs to continue to take care of building and developing the team of journalists, promoting the glorious tradition of revolutionary journalism, and upholding the social responsibility and civic duty of journalists. Revolutionary journalists across the country continue to promote the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's moral example, his ideology and journalism style to build a team of journalists and members with steadfast political will, pure professional ethics, and high professional qualifications and skills.
Journalists nationwide thoroughly grasp, organize and carry out two strategic tasks: Building and defending the Fatherland, protecting the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity; uncompromisingly fighting against the plots and tricks of hostile forces that sabotage the revolutionary cause of our people.
The organization and operation methods of the Association at all levels must be innovated to promptly encourage and motivate journalists and members to perform well the political tasks assigned by the Party, State and people; participate and actively contribute to the direction and management of the press, gradually perfect the legal system and policies on the press, promote the development of the country's press; constantly enhance the prestige and position of the Association, and expand international relations.
