Since the beginning of the tourist season, every day Mr. Hoang Minh Tien and his wife - Owner of Minh Tien Seafood Restaurant - Kiosk No. 99 on Cua Lo Beach, wake up at 5am to clean the sandy beach area. Then, they arrange tables, chairs, and stalls neatly to welcome tourists. This year, in particular, he invested 1.5 million VND to buy trash cans to collect waste on the spot. Every day, he instructs people to put waste from food and beverage services or domestic waste from tourists into trash cans. According to Nghi Thu Ward regulations, at around 8-10pm, he and many other kiosks send people to transport trash cans to the garbage collection point north of Parking Lot No. 3. Currently, most of the business kiosks in the beach park area and sidewalk businesses located on Sao Nam Street and the bus station in Nghi Thu Ward are equipped with trash cans in many different forms and designs.
Nghi Thu ward currently has 60 business kiosks in the beach park area, 91 sidewalk beach service business locations, 68 hotels and motels. As the tourist center of Cua Lo town, Nghi Thu ward clearly identifies environmental factors as contributing to the success of the tourist season. Mr. Nguyen Duc Lam - Vice Chairman of Nghi Thu ward People's Committee, said: From the beginning of this year, the ward People's Committee has advised the town People's Committee to survey and move 2 garbage dumping sites on Binh Minh street to street number 2. Mobilizing youth, students, committees and associations to carry out 4 general cleaning campaigns in the beach park area and inter-area roads. Developing a plan for environmental socialization by directing the owners of kiosks, restaurants and hotels to contribute funds to buy garbage trucks and bins according to the standards of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The result was over 110 million VND mobilized to equip trash bins at the beach and sidewalk areas.
In addition to the restaurant space, the clean and beautiful beach, the residential area cluster in Cua Lo Town is also more impressive and neat than many years ago. To better serve the tourist season, this year the garbage collection team - Cua Lo Tourism and Environmental Services Joint Stock Company also contracts more outside workers to handle garbage and beautify the environment for the campuses. The team is assigned a 2-shift work schedule, focusing on cleaning the beach from 5am to 9am in the morning, and cutting grass and picking up trash in ditches and roadsides from 2pm to 4pm in the afternoon. Currently, the team focuses on cleaning the main roads, along the coast connecting Lan Chau Island with Cua Hoi Port intersection. Ms. Bui Thi Nga - Head of the garbage collection team - Cua Lo Tourism and Environmental Services Joint Stock Company said: This year, the garbage collection is done on-site and quickly. People in residential areas all have bins and baskets to store garbage. They voluntarily collect garbage at the right time and place. Thanks to that, the work of transporting and collecting garbage to the town's general collection point is very convenient.
Aiming at "Building and developing the town into a civilized and modern coastal tourism city", Cua Lo Town clearly realizes that preserving the tourism environment is preserving the sustainable development of the town. With this goal, protecting the marine environment is a common responsibility and requires participation from many sides. This year's tourist season, Cua Lo Town has mobilized all cadres, civil servants, workers, students and people of all walks of life to launch a general clean-up of the environment throughout the town, especially the beach park area. The Town Youth Union has coordinated with Vietravel Tourism Company and Vingroup Corporation to organize and implement a social activity program with the meaning of "For a green environment", implementing a series of activities such as collecting trash at the beach, distributing biodegradable bags to local people and tourists, marching around main roads to propagate and call on people and tourism businesses not to litter, use recyclable and biodegradable materials... Thanks to the timely attention and direction of the Town Party Committee and the Town People's Committee on environmental socialization, up to now, the whole town has 71 trash collection teams, arranged 170 more trash bins at tourist attractions, and nearly 20 public toilets. At the same time, the work of assigning and assigning environmental management responsibilities to each locality and each unit with a clear reward and punishment mechanism has been thoroughly implemented. On that basis, agencies and units have the responsibility to care for the environment, mobilize business kiosks, hotels, restaurants and many people to participate in collecting and cleaning the environment where their kiosks operate.
According to the assessment of the leaders of the Department of Culture - Tourism Information - People's Committee of Cua Lo Town, the most successful work in the marine tourism environment this year is to thoroughly grasp the spirit of unity to the people, traders, and business kiosks. This contributes significantly to the business results of Cua Lo tourism services in the year. Compared to the same period in 2013, in the first 6 months of this year, the total number of visitors reached over 1,050 thousand people, an increase of 9.8%, total tourism revenue reached over 923 billion VND, an increase of 21%. This is the result of the improved tourism environment, contributing to the attractiveness of Cua Lo to tourists.
