Facebook account “Huan Dinh” sent a message to the Facebook account of the Head of Communications of HV Company, sending images of defective products produced by HV Company. The subject also demanded that the Company transfer 5 billion VND or else he would post images of defective products on the Internet.

On April 29, the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Tu Liem District Police, Hanoi, said that on the same morning, they arrested Nguyen Ba Son (born in 1983), residing in Yen So Commune, Hoai Duc District, Hanoi, to investigate the act of extortion.

Previously, on April 25, Mr. Giang, representative of HV Company Limited located at Tu Liem Industrial Park, Minh Khai Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, went to Bac Tu Liem District Police to report that the company had received threatening text messages about extortion. According to Mr. Giang's report, the subject informed that they had planted bombs at the company's headquarters and the car of the company's Board of Directors Chairman.

Immediately after receiving the news, Bac Tu Liem District Police reported to the City Police Department Board of Directors to request the City Police Department's professional departments to coordinate and direct the investigation. The initial content of the incident was determined that on April 10, a subject used the Facebook account "Huan Dinh" to send a message to the Facebook account of Mr. Do Trung D, Head of the Communications Department of HV Company, sending images and defective products produced by HV Company. The subject also demanded that the company transfer 5 billion VND or else he would post images of defective products on the Internet.

The subject requested the company to transfer money to the M e-wallet account. This is an account registered from a phone number. When depositing money into this account, money can be transferred to banks, online purchases...

The company representative did not agree and wanted to meet in person to see if the defective products belonged to the company. However, this person did not meet and continued to threaten and demand that the company transfer money according to his request.

At its peak on the evening of April 24, the subject continued to send threatening messages, announcing that he had planted mines in the production area of ​​the company's factory and the private car of the company's Chairman of the Board of Directors. The subject texted the license plate of the Chairman of the Board of Directors' car and sent a blurry photo of the factory, saying that he had planted mines there.

Evidence of the case

Determining the seriousness of the incident, the police agency coordinated with the military force to conduct a search but did not find any explosives at the factories of HV Company or the Chairman of the Board of Directors' car.

Using professional measures, on April 29, the Criminal Police Team of Bac Tu Liem District Police identified and summoned the subject who threatened to plant mines to extort money, Nguyen Ba Son.

At the police station, Nguyen Ba Son admitted to blackmailing HV Company, and only pretended to have mines to threaten the business.

The incident is being actively investigated by the agency.
