(Baonghean) -Returning to Cua tile village, Nghia Hoan commune, Tan Ky district (Nghe An), we were really surprised. The road was no longer dusty with potholes, but instead was flat asphalt, high-rise buildings were built, giving Nghia Hoan a new look.

Mr. Ta Dinh Minh - office staff of the Cua Tile Production and Service Cooperative, said: Since its establishment (in 2006), thanks to continuous innovation in design and quality improvement, Cua tile products have built a brand. Production has developed, the lives of cooperative members and workers in tile kilns have really improved significantly. Of the total 125 cooperative households, 80 are rich and 64% are high-rise households. The member families have purchased 40 cars and 40 trucks to serve the needs of transporting goods and traveling.

Cua tile products were granted a trademark by the Intellectual Property Office (Ministry of Science and Technology) in 2007 and were recognized as a craft village by the People's Committee of Nghe An province in 2006 and are one of 30 typical cooperatives nationwide. The activities of the Cua tile craft village have contributed to creating jobs for nearly 1,000 regular workers and thousands of idle agricultural workers, with an average income of 3 - 3.5 million VND/person/month. Cua tile village has also contributed to the State budget year after year, with 2 billion VND in 2010 alone. However, taking advantage of the Cua tile brand being very popular and firmly established in the market from the North to Thua Thien Hue province, many tile kiln owners outside the cooperative have embossed the words Cua, Cua tiles... on their products to deceive consumers.

Products are shipped to consumers.

However, the biggest problem currently facing the Cua tile craft village is that it is still using outdated, manual production technology, causing a huge impact on the environment, while the Government and the province have and are having a policy to eliminate manual brick and tile kilns. Realizing that the policy of the Government and the province is very suitable for the development trend of the period of promoting industrialization and modernization, the Cua tile craft village production and business service cooperative has proactively built the project "Supporting the construction of a model for applying scientific and technological advances to produce high-quality tiles" to convert from manual production to production using tunnel technology.

Accordingly, the Cooperative has also built and been approved by the Provincial People's Committee for a small industrial cluster of Nghia Hoan with an area of 5 hectares, with a total cost of 67 billion VND and a raw material exploitation area of 50 hectares. At the same time, it has cooperated with construction enterprises in Hanoi to purchase production lines, transfer technology; and prepare a team of management staff when switching to a cooperative or joint-stock company model. However, according to Mr. Ta Dinh Minh, this project is still only at the stage of project approval and planning approval. The State has not yet had any impact to speed up the project implementation progress such as supporting funding for site clearance, investing in infrastructure and implementing other support policies; allowing the marking of raw material planning areas to avoid future disputes...

In order for the Cua - Tan Ky tile craft village to develop sustainably, in addition to proactively innovating to improve the quality and diversity of products, promoting products, and improving competitiveness in the market, it is thought that the province and Tan Ky district need to pay attention and create conditions for the project to convert the production model and Nghia Hoan industrial cluster to soon come into operation, meeting the new development requirements and the policy of eliminating manual brick and tile kilns of the Government, the province and the district.
