Proposing UNESCO to honor Tran Nhan Tong as a world cultural celebrity

On August 18, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province had a working session with Hanoi National University on the implementation of the dossier to request UNESCO to recognize King-Buddha Emperor Tran Nhan Tong as a World Cultural Celebrity; the Tran Dynasty historical and cultural relic site in Dong Trieu and the Yen Tu historical, cultural and scenic relic site as World Cultural Heritage.

Ms. Vu Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, said that the province is determined to prepare a dossier to request UNESCO to recognize the Tran Dynasty Relic Site in Dong Trieu District and Yen Tu Landscape Complex in Uong Bi City as World Cultural Heritage sites as soon as possible.

Many opinions say that, to be recognized by UNESCO, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province needs to establish a Steering Committee to prepare the dossier with sufficient expertise and a special mechanism; the preparation of the scientific dossier needs to closely follow UNESCO's specific criteria, with clear arguments; it is necessary to prepare a large source of funding to complete the dossier over a long period of time.

In addition, from now on, it is necessary to carefully consider the plan to preserve the natural values ​​of biodiversity and landscape of the relic sites; have a communication campaign so that people have a deep understanding of the value and significance of the Tran Dynasty Historical and Cultural Relic Site and the Yen Tu Historical, Cultural and Scenic Relic Site.

Regarding the proposal to recognize Tran Nhan Tong as a World Cultural Celebrity, some opinions suggest that it will be shifted to the ideology of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect with integrated values ​​of Buddhism, both imbued with national identity and contributing to the ideology of humanity to be recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity./.
