Proposal to strictly handle acts of assaulting journalists while working

In response to the assault of two journalists, on November 7, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Journalists Association issued an official dispatch requesting a resolution to this incident in order to protect the rights of members of the Provincial Journalists Association.

In response to the incident in which two journalists working at the Thai Nguyen Provincial Radio and Television Station were assaulted while working in Dai Tu District, Thai Nguyen Province on November 6, on November 7, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Journalists Association issued an Official Dispatch requesting a resolution to this incident in order to protect the rights of members of the Provincial Journalists Association.

The dispatch clearly stated that the Thai Nguyen Provincial Journalists Association requested the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee to direct the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police, Dai Tu District People's Committee and relevant agencies to urgently investigate and clarify the incident, contributing to maintaining social order and security and protecting journalists while working; strictly handling the assault on journalists of Thai Nguyen Provincial Radio and Television Station while working in Quan Chu Commune, Dai Tu District on November 6.

Also on November 7, at the meeting of Thai Nguyen provincial leaders with the People's Committee of Dai Tu district, the People's Committee of Quan Chu commune, the Provincial Radio and Television Station, the Provincial Journalists Association and relevant agencies to direct and clarify the case, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu Hong Bac requested: The District People's Committee, Dai Tu District Police and relevant agencies to investigate, verify, clarify and strictly handle cases of law violations, ensuring the safety of reporters while performing their duties.

Previously, as Vietnam+ reported, at around 11:40 a.m. on November 6, in the border area between hamlet 8B of Quan Chu town and Cay Hong hamlet of Quan Chu commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province, two journalists, Dang Van Nghinh, born in 1981, and Nguyen Anh Tuan, born in 1983, working at the News Department of Thai Nguyen Provincial Radio and Television Station, were conducting an investigative report on the situation of sand and gravel mining in Quan Chu commune, Cay Hong hamlet, Quan Chu commune, and were assaulted.

While the two journalists were working and filming, two young men came and asked them to stop filming and delete all the images on the camera. Because they did not comply with the two young men's request, the two journalists were beaten with sticks by the two young men...

Faced with the extreme and aggressive behavior of the two young men, the two journalists ran into a nearby house to escape, and at the same time informed the police and local authorities to intervene.

Immediately after receiving the news, Dai Tu District Police arrived and made a record of the incident. Currently, due to the pain from the wounds on their bodies, both journalists are unable to go to work./.
