Of the 3 questions on the exam, according to Thuy Trang, the reading comprehension section (3 points) to answer questions surrounding the poem "Before the Sea" by author Vu Quan Phuong is the easy part to score points and she did quite well. The poem requires candidates to describe the image of the sea and the image of fishermen. Trang herself believes that: Thanks to their will and determination, Vietnamese fishermen have gone out to sea to protect the Fatherland.

In the writing section, Thuy Trang also quite liked the question that asked candidates to write about “human will in life”. Therefore, although the exam only required 200 words, Trang put a lot of effort into it.

According to Trang, people need to have determination and willpower in life and will be companions on the future journey.

To clarify this content, Trang also cited Nick Vujicic, an Australian young man who, despite being disabled in all four limbs, has boundless will to live and inspires the will to live to many disabled people around the world.

In question 3, the exam required candidates to feel about the image of the Huong River in the poem "Who named the river" by writer Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong. Many candidates said that it was not difficult because it was part of the textbook program.

At the Quy Chau exam site, after finishing the first exam, most candidates were satisfied with the exam and their performance. Candidate Lu Thi Yen said that the reading comprehension part was quite easy, she was impressed with the 4th question "Thinking about people's aspirations in the excerpt of the poem "Before the Sea" by poet Vu Quan Phuong because she could relate to her close friend expressing her own opinions and aspirations about her future."

At the end of the first exam, according to the Department of Education and Training, there were 31,713 candidates taking the exam, with 68 absent.

In addition, there was one candidate who violated exam regulations by bringing a cell phone into the exam room at the May 1 High School exam site, and one candidate was late at Huynh Thuc Khang High School.

Candidates in Nghe An burst into tears in front of the school gate because they were late and were not allowed into the exam room.
