So that people in 2 blocks in Dong Vinh ward (Vinh city) can stop suffering because of... roads!
(Baonghean)For many years now, over 350 households in Yen Due and Yen Giang blocks, Dong Vinh ward (Vinh city) have had to live with dust on sunny days and worry about potholes collapsing on rainy days, because Nguyen Hien street is seriously degraded...
Nguyen Hien Street is the main road running through Yen Due and Yen Giang blocks. This road was built decades ago and has now seriously degraded. Every day, in addition to the large number of people participating in traffic, at the end of this road there is a concrete mixing station and many manual brick kilns with heavy vehicles coming and going, so the road is being destroyed even faster.
With a length of less than 2 km and a width of about 4 m, the road surface is full of potholes, some sections have collapsed and sunk into long ditches, followed by places that protrude like "buffalo backs" from the road surface 20 - 30 cm. Especially the section through Yen Due block, just a small rain will form a ditch in the middle of the road, and heavy rain will turn it into a pond... Ms. Vo Thi Toan, a resident living along this road, was upset: Despite being a city resident, it is really not as good as the countryside and mountainous areas. Back in the countryside, asphalt and concrete roads connect to the alleys, but here, although it is called a ward, the roads do not reach the street.
Some locals here added: The road is so bad that there have been many unfortunate traffic accidents, especially when it rains and the road is flooded, it's like entering a trap area!
Talking to us, Mr. Nguyen Van Tien - Vice Chairman of Dong Vinh Ward People's Committee said: The ward has set up a project to submit to the City People's Committee and the city has also sent people to survey, but currently due to lack of capital, construction cannot be carried out. Therefore, for a long time, many households along the road have "put out the fire" by using soil and rocks to patch up potholes, the concrete mixing station has also poured concrete to patch up some places to avoid water stagnation, but those actions are just like a drop in the ocean.
Faced with the above reality, it is thought that authorities at all levels and functional agencies need to soon research solutions to overcome the problem so that people here can be safe when participating in traffic on this road, especially when preparing to enter the rainy season.
