(Baonghean.vn) -People with disabilities inherently have difficulty integrating into the community because of their body image, so finding a job to support themselves is extremely difficult. Currently, our province has more than 200,000 people with disabilities, of which more than 90% do not have a vocational certificate. That means the employment rate of people with disabilities is very low.

We visited the My Hoa dishwashing liquid production facility, managed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Hoa. Ms. Hoa has been paralyzed in her left leg since she was 3 years old. She has spent many years struggling with her disabled legs to be able to study, build a family, and develop her economy. After graduating from the University, she struggled for a long time but could not get a job in any state agency. In 1997, she married Mr. Nguyen Van My when he was a single father raising their children. It is impossible to describe the difficult days, when she had to do many jobs to revive the family economy and raise her children.

Originally a bachelor in biochemistry, she tried to create products such as mineral water or essential oils, but those products did not help her improve her economy. In early 2010, she boldly switched to producing dishwashing liquid and registered the My Hoa brand. The My Hoa dishwashing liquid brand has gained prestige thanks to the quality of its products and the price is only 2/3 of the price of other dishwashing liquids on the market. Now her production facility always needs at least 5 workers, each worker earns an average of 80,000 VND per day. She said: “Since I was young, I have been aware that I am disabled, so I have to strive. I passed the university entrance exam but luck still did not smile on me when no unit hired me. Now the State has many policies for people with disabilities, hoping that people with disabilities who have skills and education will be treated equally because their ability to contribute is not inferior to other able-bodied people.”

Leaving Ms. Hoa's establishment, I went to the bedding business of Mr. Mai Hong Quan. Mr. Quan is 38 years old and has been deaf since childhood. But the will and determination to make a fortune with his own hands and mind always burns in this deaf young man. Previously, he opened a workshop to produce aluminum, glass and stainless steel accessories, creating jobs for 3 deaf workers with high income. Since 2008, he and his wife have opened another production facility and bedding agency, creating jobs for 8-10 deaf and disabled workers with a stable income of 1,800,000 - 2,500,000 VND. He also hopes that there will be more and more vocational training facilities and jobs for the disabled so that they can support themselves and their families while creating more jobs for other disabled workers.

In the livelihood support project implemented by the Central Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Orphans since 2011 in Nam Anh Commune - Nam Dan, the total budget is 137,000,000 VND for 28 orphans and disabled people... The project has supported 8 families with disabled people, each family has 2 breeding pigs, after one year the total herd has increased to 48 pigs, earning 140,000,000 VND. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly - Hamlet 5 is the household that received breeding pigs, from the initial capital she has developed 2 more cows. She excitedly said: "Since having breeding pigs, my family has had more income and the children are excited because they can help their mother feed the pigs and cows. Hopefully, from these first pigs, my family will develop into a family farm, increase income, and escape poverty. The children will be able to work and dispel the inferiority complex that they are disabled and cannot do anything". It is known that the Livelihood Support Project is being piloted in communes implementing the new rural construction program.

Along with livelihood support, in 2012, the Provincial Association opened vocational training courses in rattan weaving, flower making, and bamboo toothpick making for 60 disabled people in the province. Of these, 32 people found jobs in private production establishments. This number accounts for only 0.03% of the disabled people in the province.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Thanh - Chairman of the Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Orphans said: "When implementing the Livelihood Support project, our wish is to equip the disabled with a "fishing rod", so the issue of vocational training and job creation for each disabled person is a matter of concern for us!".
