To develop folk singing movement in schools
(Baonghean.vn) - Up to now, the Ministry of Education and Training has not issued a separate program on teaching folk songs in schools; the Secondary Education Development Project II has a Project to Support the Introduction of Folk Songs into Secondary Schools (Nghe An has 12 schools participating in this Project). In Nghe An alone, the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the provincial Radio and Television Station have coordinated to launch a folk song singing movement in general and vocational schools since October 1998.
Every year, the Steering Committee has a preliminary summary and in November 2003, it held a conference to summarize experiences after 5 years of implementing the movement. The conference concluded: The folk song singing movement has not only contributed to improving the quality of comprehensive education in schools, but also has the effect of acting as a core to promote the folk song singing movement in society.
The practice of the movement shows that, from the deep subconscious and spiritual life of Nghe An’s school youth, the source of traditional folk songs, especially Nghe Tinh folk songs, is still full of vitality and talent in the students that needs to be nurtured and developed. The conference also affirmed that the reason for the success of the movement is thanks to the regular guidance of management levels, having the right measures to implement the movement, having the attention and direction of authorities at all levels and mobilizing social forces to participate.
But in recent years, the folk singing movement in schools in Nghe An has not only not developed but also tended to decline. The basic reason is due to the direction of management levels (especially inspection and supervision), due to the impractical system of solutions.
The purpose and effects of the folk song singing movement in schools are clear. The desire to promote this movement is completely legitimate. But how to promote it? I think, for now, relevant sectors only need to focus on 6 main measures.
First of all, it is necessary to consolidate and put the steering committees at all levels into regular operation, overcoming the situation of leaving the movement entirely to the school's youth union and team organizations.
Second, all levels from the province to the grassroots level develop programs and content to implement the movement for each school year and consider the organization and implementation of the movement as important content to build "friendly schools and active students".
Third, organize training for key staff of schools and include this activity in the annual training program of the Education and Training sector.
Fourth, organize a contest to compose new lyrics for folk songs, especially Nghe Tinh folk songs, on that basis, compile and distribute documents to serve the movement to schools. Fifth, organize a contest to learn and sing folk songs at all levels, especially at the grassroots level. And finally, check, summarize, and conclude, because otherwise, everything will be in a state of "the elephant's head and the mouse's tail". I believe that if the above 6 solutions are implemented synchronously, the folk song singing movement in schools will certainly be restored and strongly developed.
