Currently, the situation

(Baonghean.vn) -Currently, the situationsickHand, Foot and Mouth disease has decreased in both the number of cases and complications compared to the same period last year. Although there have been no complications, we need to be extremely vigilant because Hand, Foot and Mouth disease is at risk of increasing sharply, especially in hot and humid weather conditions like at this time.

At the Department of Infectious Diseases - Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, during this hot weather, many children are being treated here. The case of Dang Ha Thanh (26 months), the son of Mr. Dang Van Ky in Le Loi Ward - Vinh City, was hospitalized for Hand - Foot - Mouth disease level 2A with a high fever of 390C, mouth ulcers, rash and blisters on the palms, soles, mouth, knees, and buttocks. Mr. Ky said: My child was sick and treated at home for 4 days but did not get better. On the 5th day, I saw that my child had a high fever and took him to the hospital, afraid that if I arrived late, he might have serious complications. Currently, my child is being treated actively and his fever has decreased.

Children need to be taught the habit of washing their hands every day to prevent Hand, Foot and Mouth disease.

Parents with young children should pay attention if their children show signs of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease such as: pink rashes concentrated on the palms, soles, buttocks, mouth ulcers, no fever, do not worry too much, because about 90% of children with Hand, Foot and Mouth disease will recover on their own (this is a child with mild illness) parents can take care of their children at home. If the child shows signs of high fever from 39 to 40 degrees, vomiting, diarrhea, poor sleep, and frequent startles when sleeping, they should be taken to the nearest medical facility for examination and treatment to avoid serious complications and death.

Currently, there is no vaccine to prevent Hand, Foot and Mouth disease, so parents need to pay attention to washing their hands regularly with soap, cleaning contaminated surfaces, objects, toys, etc. with soap and common disinfectant solution once or twice a day. At the same time, give children cooked food and boiled water, do not share spoons or bowls, and avoid close contact with children who have the disease. When a child is diagnosed with Hand, Foot and Mouth disease, the child must be kept home from school immediately and the school must be notified to clean the school to avoid spreading the disease.
