Usually when the weather turns cold, the number of patients hospitalized due to complications of high blood pressure increases significantly. A study in Vietnam shows that nearly 70% of patients do not know they have high blood pressure until they suddenly suffer a stroke, paralysis, or coma.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Ngoc, Director of the Stroke Center, 108 Central Military Hospital, high blood pressure can cause serious consequences such as stroke and myocardial infarction.

Cold weather will cause blood vessels to constrict, causing blood pressure to spike, easily causing a stroke. Especially for the elderly, when getting out of a warm blanket, it is easy to catch a cold, then going to the bathroom will cause another loss of heat, the body will be even colder, causing blood vessels to constrict, blood pressure to suddenly increase. This condition can easily lead to events such as ruptured cerebral blood vessels, angina.
