According to the Washington Post, the agencysecret agentsummoned a team of agents, adding more people to the security forceMr. Bidenafter his campaign announced it would continue to use the convention center in Wilmington for at least another day and would deliver a major speech as early as today.
The information was revealed by two people familiar with the plan who asked to remain anonymous. However, the Biden campaign declined to comment.
Dozens of agents are now guarding Biden's campaign at the Chase Center at the Riverfront Convention Center in Wilmington, while vote counting continues in battleground states.
The decision to add more security for Biden doesn’t mean he’ll be fully protected as a president-elect, but it’s closer to that. It’s unclear how much protection the Secret Service will provide if Biden wins the White House.
Typically, the Secret Service increases protection for the president-elect immediately after one candidate is declared the winner and the other concedes. In the event that Biden wins and Trump refuses to concede, the Secret Service will wait until the Electoral College meets in December to certify the vote before officially treating Biden as the president-elect.
