Every Lunar New Year, trade unions at all levels simultaneously implement activities to care for union members and workers with many creative initiatives. Towards the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), this year's Tet Reunion program of the Nghe An Trade Union is themed "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party," featuring many new activities and meaningful messages.

Nghe An Newspaper had a conversation with Mr. Kha Van Tam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor - about activities to take care of workers and laborers during Tet 2025.
PV:For many years, Tet activities ReunionSatisfied It has become a much-anticipated "festival" for workers and laborers, and a source of pride for the Nghe An Trade Union organization. He can summarize some of the results. What have been the most outstanding results recently? In your opinion, what factors have contributed to those results?
Mr. Kha Van Tam:If we consider Resolution 02-NQ/TW of 2021 on "Renewing the organization and activities of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation" of the Politburo as a milestone, then from the time of implementation until now, the Nghe An Trade Union has spent 77 billion VND to organize "Tet Reunion" activities. In particular, in 2024, with the theme "Tet Reunion- In the "Spring Sharing" program, trade unions at all levels in Nghe An province spent nearly 20 billion VND on caring for nearly 23,000 union members and workers during Tet (Lunar New Year).
Specifically, at the "Tet Reunion - Spring Sharing" program in 2024 organized by the Provincial Labor Union, we presented gifts to 250 exemplary workers with particularly difficult circumstances, each gift worth 640,000 VND; awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to 30 exemplary workers; presented 10 "Trade Union Shelter" houses with a total value of 360 million VND; and successfully coordinated the gift-giving program by leaders of the Party, State, and the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province to 600 union members and workers with a total value of 750 million VND. In addition, implementing the "Welcoming Workers Home for Tet" program, the Provincial Labor Union organized the reception and presented 100 gifts to workers from Nghe An returning from Binh Duong with a total value of 100 million VND. Implementing the "Trade Union Tet Market 2024" program through e-commerce platforms, providing 3,000 free shopping vouchers with a total value of 900 million VND…
In addition, trade unions at all levels have implemented many vibrant activities to create a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere among union members and workers.
Besides organizing Tet reunions to care for union members and workers, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Union also actively focuses on supporting people in difficult circumstances. In the past three years alone, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation has contributed 15.2 billion VND to the "Tet for the Poor" program launched by the Nghe An Provincial Fatherland Front Committee. This demonstrates the compassion and responsibility of the Labor Union organization, joining hands with the entire political system to care for the poor in the province, with the hope that everyone can have a warm and joyful Tet holiday.
Among the many factors contributing to these results, the crucial role of Resolution 02 for the Nghe An Trade Union cannot be overlooked. In accordance with the Resolution, we adhered to the spirit of innovation it inspired. From this spirit, each trade union official has strived with determination, innovation, dedication, and responsibility in every activity. These results also stem from the collective efforts of the entire society in caring for union members and workers. It can be said that trade unions at all levels have mobilized support from organizations, businesses, local authorities, and individuals in caring for union members and workers during the Lunar New Year.

Mr. Kha Van Tam:This year, with the theme "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party," the Nghe An Provincial Trade Union has set out a plan to organize activities to care for union members and workers during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025 with the motto "All union members and workers will have a Tet holiday." Accordingly, diverse and flexible forms of care will be organized, focusing on grassroots and higher-level trade unions. These care activities must be practical, safe, effective, economical, compliant with regulations, create a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere for union members and workers, and be appropriate to the conditions of the locality, unit, and enterprise. We expect these activities to make a mark for the Nghe An Trade Union in the series of activities leading up to the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), welcoming the Party Congresses at all levels, and moving towards the 14th National Congress of the Party, term 2026 - 2030.
In the new context, with the regulations on the establishment of independent trade unions coming into effect, the Vietnam Trade Union organization faces challenges in attracting members and workers. In this situation, the success of the "Tet Reunion" program in particular, and trade union activities in general, will contribute to affirming the role and responsibility of the Trade Union organization in caring for its members and workers; it will encourage members and workers, improve work efficiency, foster solidarity in building agencies, units, and enterprises; strengthen trust and connection between members and workers and the Trade Union organization; and attract workers to join the Vietnam Trade Union.
PV:Grandfather Could you share more specific details about them? Tet holiday care program 2025? Compared to previous years, what are the new aspects of this year's activities, sir??
Mr. Kha Van Tam:The Nghe An Trade Union continues to maintain and implement plans and programs organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, such as: the "Trade Union Tet Market 2025" program in online format; the plan to welcome union members and workers back home for Tet on "Trade Union Flights", "The Trade Union Train– Spring 2025”; Organizing visits, giving gifts, encouraging and wishing a Happy New Year to union members and workers with the participation of provincial and central leaders…
With the theme "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party," trade unions at all levels will focus on organizing practical and effective activities, concentrating on grassroots and higher-level trade unions, and focusing on union members and workers. In addition, they will advise local leaders to visit, give gifts, encourage, and wish a Happy New Year to union members and workers, especially those with particularly difficult circumstances, those who have suffered work accidents, occupational diseases, serious illnesses, been affected by natural disasters, reduced working hours, job loss, union members and workers from policy beneficiary families, ethnic minorities, those who have not been able to return home for Tet for many years; and union members and workers who remain at their units and enterprises to work during Tet… To share and care for union members and workers in difficult circumstances, at the higher-level trade union, the District Labor Federation and relevant sectors will survey and compile a list to provide cash support of 500,000 VND per person. For units designated for supplementary funding, any funding shortfall will be considered for support by the Provincial Labor Union. Each grassroots-level trade union shall select and direct at least one unit to organize the "Tet Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party" event. The event must be held before January 19, 2025 (i.e., December 20th of the lunar calendar).
In parallel with welfare activities, given the complexity of labor relations and the recent collective work stoppages, trade union officials will proactively engage with relevant authorities to thoroughly understand the situation, concerns, and aspirations of union members and workers. This will enable them to promptly identify problems in labor relations and develop solutions to ensure the rights of union members and workers, and to harmonize labor relations in enterprises, especially those facing difficulties in business and production recently.
On the part of the Provincial Labor Union, in addition to advising on organizing visits, gift-giving, encouragement, and New Year greetings for union members and workers at 10 enterprises and units by provincial leaders, we directed the Southeast Economic Zone Labor Union to organize the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" program at the WHA Industrial Park and directed the Provincial Labor Culture House to coordinate with the Civil Servant Labor Union, the Education Sector Labor Union, and the Vinh City Labor Union to organize the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" program in 2025 for civil servants in the administrative and public service sector. These are new activities that serve as highlights in this year's Tet program.
PV: Specifically, what are the two major programs that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is directing to implement during Tet 2025, sir?
Mr. Kha Van Tam:The "Tet Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party" program at the WHA Industrial Park involved 1,800 workers, including 1,000 union members and workers in difficult circumstances from enterprises with grassroots trade unions affiliated with the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union, who received gifts at the program. Currently, the grassroots trade unions are eagerly practicing and preparing performances of "Youth Dances," "Green Fashion" collections, and a space for showcasing traditional Tet culture to perform at the program. The organizing committee also developed team-building activities with lively and fun folk games suitable for workers.
Meanwhile, the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" program in 2025, themed "Celebrating the Glorious Party - Welcoming the Year of the Snake 2025," focuses on supporting civil servants and public employees in the administrative and public service sectors. It includes 200 union members in difficult circumstances from the Education, Public Service, and Health sectors, as well as the Vinh City Federation of Labor; 95 exemplary workers and employees who are Party members from district, city, and town labor federations, and affiliated sectoral and grassroots unions; and 800 union officials and members from the Vinh City Federation of Labor, the Public Service Union, the Education Sector Union, and the Health Sector Union. The program is meticulously and systematically planned, promising to be a highlight in this year's Tet activities.
These activities will be promptly and widely publicized to create an impact and spread widely throughout the community about the role and responsibility of the Trade Union in caring for its members and workers during the Lunar New Year.

Mr. Kha Van Tam:Within the trade union system, I expect creativity and responsibility from the team.trade union officialsAt all levels, especially grassroots trade union officials in enterprises with a large number of workers, the creativity and responsibility of trade unions at all levels can be demonstrated through innovative ways of giving gifts to workers, creating a positive effect. They can coordinate with employers, and based on available resources, organize New Year's celebrations for some workers and union members who return to work as soon as possible after the Tet holiday. In the long term, trade union officials will truly be closer to the workers, dedicating their hearts and minds to caring for them and taking responsibility in every activity…
As for workers and laborers, I hope for more comprehensive and greater care, not just during special occasions like Tet (Lunar New Year) or Workers' Month. To achieve this, the entire system needs to be involved, from developing wage policies and ensuring businesses guarantee orders and income, to building cultural institutions to care for their spiritual well-being... Only then can we ensure long-term stability for the productive forces of society.
