After more than two centuries of urban development, December 1st, 2024 marks a milestone in Vinh's development, as it is for the first time designated as a coastal city, rising to become the capital of the North Central region.

With its "spacious terrain and bright atmosphere," chosen by Emperor Quang Trung as the capital, Phuong Hoang - Trung Do of the past, now Vinh City, has undergone many historical changes and numerous boundary shifts. This land, nestled against Dung Quyet and facing the Lam River, has continuously developed, establishing itself as the economic, political, and cultural center of Nghe An province. After more than two centuries of urban development, December 1st, 2024 marks a significant milestone for Vinh, as it is for the first time designated as a coastal city, rising to become the regional capital of North Central Vietnam.
