Foreign Language Exam is highly differentiated, many candidates are only confident of getting average scores

The Foreign Language exam of the 2018 National High School Exam includes languages ​​such as: English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean... In Nghe An, there are 4 candidates taking the Russian exam, 2 candidates taking the Japanese exam, 24 candidates taking the French exam and 28,950 candidates taking the English exam.

The 2018 National High School English exam is a multiple-choice test with 50 questions. The exam starts at 2:20 p.m., and candidates have 60 minutes to complete the English test. According to many candidates, the Foreign Language subject is “easier” than previous subjects, but the differentiation is still high and they are only confident of achieving an average score.

Candidate Nguyen Thi Mai Dung - a student of class 12C2, Nguyen Sy Sach High School, Thanh Chuong District happily said: "This year's English exam closely follows the general education program, generally within my ability. Of the 50 questions, I am sure I got about 70% correct, the rest is choosing the answer to circle to "make it on time", so I don't know yet. I feel quite comfortable after finishing the Foreign Language exam."

Many candidates at 4 testing sites in Do Luong district all agreed: The test was still relatively difficult, but candidates taking the exam for graduation points could still pass; and candidates taking the university entrance exam for English points were within their ability. Candidate Bui Thi Hang Nga, who took the exam at Do Luong 1 High School, said: "I am only confident with the easy-to-understand questions because my teachers have reviewed them a lot. I think I will get about 5 points."

Candidate Nguyen Minh Tuan, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, taking the university entrance exam for group D, said: "The exam tests students' knowledge of phonetics, vocabulary, grammar, and reading and writing skills. The exam has a high level of classification. There are some reading comprehension questions that are difficult to determine the correct answer because there are confusing answers. I was able to do about 80% of the exam."

According to many English teachers, this year's exam followed the sample exam of the Ministry of Education and Training from the phonetics, vocabulary, grammar to reading comprehension. However, compared to last year's exam and the past 5 years, this year's exam has a very high classification, especially the reading comprehension section is quite difficult./.
