The high school graduation exam for History and Physics is long, many candidates think it is difficult to get high scores

(Baonghean.vn) - The combined exam is one of four compulsory subjects in the 2020 high school graduation exam. However, this year, the Ministry of Education and Training has adjusted to only allow candidates to choose one of two combined subjects instead of taking both as before.

This morning, candidates completed the third subject of the high school graduation exam: the combination subject. This is also a subject that is considered "heavy" when in 150 minutes candidates have to take 3 subjects, in which 1 subject has up to 40 questions.

Because of having to choose one of two combined subjects, this year the number of registered candidates has changed quite a lot compared to last year. Specifically, if in the Social Science Combined subject, the whole province has more than 22,100 candidates registered to take the exam, the Natural Science Combined subject has only more than 880 candidates.

After 150 minutes of testing, many candidates said that this year's combined test was quite suitable and candidates could easily get an average score.

Regarding the Natural Science exam, candidate Le Thuy Linh - Le Viet Thuat High School said: The Physics exam, with 30 questions, is relatively easy for students to grasp and get 7 points, and closely follows the sample exam, but from question 31 onwards, it is relatively difficult to differentiate candidates.

I did all the questions but I was only sure of getting them from question 1 to question 32 correct. I did normally in Chemistry and Biology and was not very confident because I chose the A1 group which included Maths – Physics – English. With this question, I hope to get 7 points and be qualified to apply to the University of Commerce.

However, many candidates said that the exam was quite long and doing 3 subjects was extremely difficult. Photo: Duc Anh

Regarding the Social Science subject group, candidate Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Vinh University High School for the Gifted said: Of the 3 subjects, I find Geography and Civic Education quite easy and we did well.

However, I found the History subject quite difficult because of the wide scope of review. I think I only have enough points to graduate. I am currently registering for block D at the National Economics University, so it is not too difficult for me.

Le Thi Huyen Trang, a student at Con Cuong High School, who took the Social Science exam, said: The exam was moderate but not too difficult. The History exam was a bit long with 40 questions, some of which were quite difficult, requiring high thinking and reasoning. The remaining questions were moderate, however, the content followed the curriculum. The Geography and Civic Education exams were relatively easy. I did relatively well in all three subjects and had just enough time.

Nguyen Phuong Thao, a student at Anh Son 3 High School, a candidate taking the exam at Con Cuong exam site, commented: This year's exam was not too difficult. However, there was a high level of differentiation to classify students, with difficult and easy questions mixed together. I think students with average academic ability will be eligible for graduation, and students who are more inclined towards Natural Science subjects will also get high scores in this exam. Since the exam questions are close to the review content, I hope I will get the maximum score in this exam.

In Anh Son district, candidate Hoang Tien Dat, a 12th grade student at Anh Son 1 High School, was one of the first candidates to leave the exam site at Anh Son 1 High School. According to Dat, the Physics exam from question 35 onwards was difficult and many candidates could not do it. Biology also required candidates to know how to apply basic knowledge from textbooks and expand and improve. However, in general, the combined exam of Natural Sciences this year was within reach, reducing part of the curriculum due to the Covid 19 epidemic. However, doing 3 consecutive exams also made him a bit tired.

At the exam site of Do Luong 3 High School, leaving the exam room, most of the candidates were excited when they finished the test. Nguyen Dinh Tung, a student from My Son commune, took the natural science exam and said: “This year's exam was relatively easy. On average, I did 36/40 questions. The last 4 questions were the questions to differentiate and classify students. In my room, about 20/24 students did well on the exam. Hoang Tien Nam, also a student from Dai Son commune, said he finished all 40 questions and was confident that he got them right. This year's Chemistry exam was easier than last year's. This year's exam was within my ability. I studied at home by myself.

At the Kim Lien High School exam site, Pham Thi Ha Trang, a 12C3 student at Kim Lien High School, shared that the Natural Science exam this morning was within her ability. She found that each multiple choice test had 40 questions, of which 30 were relatively easy and the last 10 questions gradually increased in difficulty.

I have a firm grasp of the knowledge and have reviewed carefully, so I did quite well with the 3 natural science subjects, of which Physics was the best. I predict 9 points for Physics, and about 8 points for Chemistry and Biology.

Also at the exam site of Kim Lien High School, Nam Dan District, Nguyen Thi Suong, a 12C3 student at Sao Nam High School, said: I found the social science exam quite difficult for me. Overall, my social science exam was only average. I predict a score of 7 for Civic Education and 4-5 for the other two subjects.

According to the report of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, today (August 10), there were 90,096 candidates registered for the exam and 89,778 candidates took the exam. The total number of absent candidates was 318; specifically for each subject (Physics 39; Chemistry 42; Biology 44; History 68; Geography 65; Civic Education 60); no candidates or invigilators violated the exam regulations.

Security, traffic safety, and disease prevention work continue to be carried out seriously, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. No major unusual incidents occurred. This morning's exam took place normally and safely.
