Proposal to limit bus speed at night
The Hanoi Transport Association has just sent a document to the Ministry of Transport and the Police proposing to limit the speed of passenger buses running at night to help reduce traffic accidents that have caused serious consequences like the recent past.
The Hanoi Transport Association believes that nighttime driving is the culprit causing many bus accidents. Therefore, the Association proposes that from 9pm to 4am, passenger vehicles with 16 seats or more traveling on national and provincial highways (except expressways) should limit the maximum speed to 50 to 60km/h.
The tragic bus accident in Dak Lak happened recently
For mountainous areas and steep passes, the Transport Association recommends banning vehicles from traveling at night from 9pm to 4am, and restricting long-distance passenger vehicles over 300km from departing after 9pm.
In addition, the Hanoi Transport Association suggested that the Ministry of Public Security should increase mobile patrol teams, especially at night, to warn drivers to comply with regulations and reduce driver drowsiness.
With this proposal, the Hanoi Transport Association also anticipates that some businesses and transport business units will react because this will more or less affect their interests. However, if we think about the common good, think about the long-term interests of the people, the Hanoi Transport Association realizes that these are proposals that need to be noted.
