Proposal to convert license plate numbers into one color for equality

According to Mr. Son, the current division of white, blue, and green license plate vehicles and the division of central and local vehicles is unequal.

No compromise on blue plate cars

Mr. Son pointed out that many blue-plate vehicles violate the law on the road without being punished, especially many blue-plate 80B vehicles violating the law on the road. There were cases where people discovered blue-plate vehicles violating the law and were upset, chasing them to hand them over to the authorities.

Therefore, Mr. Son proposed that in the process of amending the Road Traffic Law, there should be only one color for vehicle registration plates to create equality. To differentiate, there should be a type of plate for cars and trucks.

Major General Tran Son Ha - Director of the Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security - expressed his agreement with the above proposal.

According to Mr. Ha, apart from special military vehicles, the remaining vehicles need to have a specified license plate color.

“Now the people are in a mess, the government is in a mess, the police are in a mess, everyone thinks they are big. There are many cases where vehicles with license plates 80 are still violating the law. During the process of controlling and handling violations through images on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, we require notification to all agencies with violating vehicles, including blue-plate vehicles” - Mr. Ha agreed and said that he is still strictly handling blue-plate vehicles that violate the law without any leniency.

Toll only on extended lanes

According to Mr. Quyen, with road investment in the form of BOT, the law also needs to be amended, clearly stipulating that if a new BOT road is built, the old road must be left for people to use for free.

If an old road is widened, only the newly widened lanes will be charged, and the old lanes will not be charged. Other countries do the same to give people a choice.

Earlier, in his opening speech at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh - Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee - stated that the demand for traffic and means of transport is increasing rapidly, exceeding the capacity of traffic infrastructure.

Therefore, it is necessary to continue to synchronously implement many solutions from legal institutions, building traffic infrastructure, and improving state management capacity.
