(Baonghean.vn) - The 29th night of the lunar calendar has come late, tens of thousands of people in Vinh City are getting closer together in the chilly weather under the cold rain, everyone is excitedly waiting for a new year to officially begin. And this is also the time when everyone shakes off work, worries in life to enjoy the most sacred moments of the new year. For urban environmental workers, New Year's Eve is the night when they do not get to rest but are still busy and tired next to the piles of garbage piled up like mountains.

The last day of the year, the cold drizzling rain, everyone wants to stay at home to welcome the new year with their family, no one wants to go out, but the janitors are still tired at work under the spring rain, everyone wants to work quickly to make the winter less cold so that tomorrow, a new year, the streets will be clean and beautiful, making everyone feel a new life. On the last day of the year, 100% of the janitors of Vinh Urban Environment Company were mobilized to collect the huge amount of garbage of the old year. From 4 pm, all forces: motorbikes, workers were mobilized to spread out on the assigned routes. Mr. Hoang Trong Tai, team leader of team 2, who is in charge of Tran Phu street, said that from 4 am, his team started the work and expected to finish by about 5 am. “Although we had to work on New Year's Eve, all of our employees tried to complete their tasks with the spirit that tomorrow the city's people will be able to celebrate Tet on clean streets, returning to the city green - clean - beautiful streets.”

The New Year is coming, everyone wants to be with their family, but for these janitors, this is the most stressful time of work. Major roads, flower markets, ornamental plants, peach branches, kumquat trees are left haphazardly on the sidewalks and roads, along with the huge amount of garbage from people cleaning their houses that must be cleaned up tonight, so the work of the janitors is even more difficult.

Ms. Vu Thi Kim Chung, who is in charge of sweeping the trash in the Le Nin Avenue area where the Hung Phuc Ward flower market is located, said, "On New Year's Eve, everyone wants to gather with their families, but because of work responsibilities, we have to try to complete our housework in the afternoon so that tonight we can try to complete the work assigned by the company." Having worked for the Urban Environment Company for 6 years, every year she is on duty on New Year's Eve and only returns home at 4-5am. It is a difficult and disadvantaged job, but for her, this is both for her livelihood and also because she hopes that tomorrow morning when people wake up, the city will have its original beauty restored.

“Everyone chooses the easy work. Who will take the hard work…” Perhaps this song is true for the environmental workers who are quietly working diligently in this sacred moment.
