Cua Rao Temple was determined to have been built during the reign of King Tran Anh Tong, and is a place to worship General Doan Nhu Hai, who had great merit in the war against the Ai Lao invaders, keeping the country safe, and died at this river junction.
At the same time, in folk beliefs, the temple is also a place to worship the Three Holy Mothers who have contributed to protecting the country, governing the people, and bringing peace to this land. This place has marked the struggle against foreign invaders and built the peace and prosperity of the Tran Dynasty, and is also a vivid testament to the heroic, resilient, and benevolent tradition of the Vietnamese people.
In the 90s of the last century, archaeologists excavated the Temple Hill archaeological site and discovered many stone and bronze objects, especially many fossilized human bones and weapons.
After many historical changes, up to now, Cua Rao Temple only has the central shrine and some sacrificial objects. In the coming time, Tuong Duong District People's Committee plans to continue investing in building the upper and lower shrines to be worthy of a historical-cultural relic and meet the spiritual needs of local people as well as visitors from near and far. At the same time, the land around the temple area will be cleared to form a festival area, investing about 3 billion VND to build a suspension bridge connecting National Highway 7A with the festival area, replacing the current unstable bamboo pontoon bridge that is often washed away during the rainy season.
For the officials and people of Tuong Duong district, the recognition of Cua Rao temple as a historical-cultural relic is an important event that changes the awareness of all people born, raised and living on this land. Talking to us, comrade Vi Tan Hoi, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee said: "Protecting the historical-cultural relic of Cua Rao temple in conjunction with organizing the Spring festival will contribute to preserving cultural identity, strengthening solidarity among ethnic groups residing on this land, and at the same time helping people move towards a life of truth, goodness and beauty".
