Vinh University launches vote to elect Ha Long Bay as new world natural wonder
(Baonghean) -On the afternoon of October 8, 2011 at Vinh University, the General Department of Tourism in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Faculty of History of Vinh University organized a ceremony to launch the vote for Ha Long Bay as a natural wonder of the world.
Representatives of leaders and experts from departments, offices and institutes of the General Department of Tourism; representatives of leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and its departments and units; tourism businesses in the area; representatives of leaders, teachers and a large number of students of Vinh University attended the launching ceremony.
Reading the opening speech of the ceremony, after evaluating the rare tangible and intangible values of Ha Long Bay, comrade Pham Tien Dung - Meritorious Artist, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An affirmed: Participating in the vote for Ha Long Bay to be honored by the world as one of the 7 new natural wonders of the world is a source of pride for every citizen in the country, especially for the young generation of Vietnam. This is an important political and social activity in the period of integration and exchange between cultures and civilizations of humanity. The Organizing Committee hopes and calls on students of schools, officials, civil servants and employees of agencies, departments, tourism businesses and people in the whole province to actively participate in contributing more votes for Ha Long Bay so that Ha Long Bay can become one of the 7 new natural wonders of the world.
During and after the ceremony, over 500 students from the History Department and other departments of the school participated in voting for Ha Long Bay (via the internet and mobile phones).
