(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 12, Vinh University organized the traditional Bunpimay - Songkran festival for Lao and Thai students studying at the school. Representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association and many overseas Vietnamese attended.
The ceremony took place solemnly with traditional rituals of Bunpimay and Songkran such as: blessing ceremony, water splashing, wrist tying and special performances by Lao, Thai and Vietnamese students. Thereby, helping Lao and Thai students to celebrate a warm and meaningful Tet away from home.

This is an opportunity for students from different countries to learn and share each other’s cultural activities and customs. From there, it will strengthen the solidarity and friendship between people of different countries as well as the affection between civil servants and students of the school towards international students.

Also at this ceremony, the Lao Embassy awarded certificates of merit to 40 Lao students with good academic and training achievements; the Rector of Vinh University awarded certificates of merit to 13 students with achievements in movement activities and student management, and awarded 5 scholarships to students with high academic and training achievements.
This is the 10th year Vinh University has organized a traditional New Year celebration for Lao and Thai students. Currently, there are nearly 370 Lao and Thai students studying at the school.
