Alternative treatments for chronic bronchitis
Malt sugar is also known as soft sugar, malt, malt candy, malt sugar, scientific name is maltum.
In Oriental medicine, it is called di duong or giao di, which is derived from cereals and is created through a biological fermentation process, hydrolyzing starch into sugar.
Since ancient times, people have known how to make candy from sticky rice and rice germ to use as ingredients in making confectionery and used as medicine. In Vietnam, because we do not have barley, we still use rice seeds (oryza sativa l. Var. Utilissima of the same family) to soak until they germinate and then dry them, called coc nha. Recently, we have imported barley seeds to grow to make beer, but it is not enough for use.
Oriental medicine considers di duong a precious medicine and calls the medicine di duong. It is believed that di duong has a sweet taste and warm properties that enter the spleen, stomach, and lung meridians. Its functions include replenishing the middle qi, replenishing the spleen, moistening the lungs, regulating the stomach and harmonizing the middle, stabilizing the fetus, relieving pain, replenishing deficiency, generating body fluids, stopping coughs, and moistening the bowels.
