(Baonghean.vn)-At around 9am on April 30, during the holiday, two students Phan Van Uoc (1994 - 12th grade student) and Doan Van Quan (1996 - 10th grade student), both residing in Hamlet 4, Xuan Tuong Commune, Thanh Chuong District (currently students at Nguyen Sy Sach High School) swam across Lam River, through Xuan Tuong Commune to collect firewood, unfortunately one of them drowned..

When Doan Van Quan had just swum across the river, he heard Uoc's cry for help and immediately turned back to save his friend and alert the people working in the fields nearby. However, because the river was deep and the water was flowing fast, Uoc was swept away by the current, leaving Quan and the people helpless. About an hour later, Phan Van Uoc's body was found in a section of the river a few hundred meters away.

On the same afternoon, Phan Van Uoc’s body was buried amid the grief of his relatives and neighbors. It is known that Uoc was the only son in a family of five siblings. Life was extremely difficult, so in addition to going to school, Uoc often had to help his parents with farming, herding cows and collecting firewood.
