Flying business class, stealing 400 million VND
With her professional experience, Ms. Huong quickly exposed the Chinese person who stole tens of thousands of dollars on the plane.
According to the indictment, Ding Ying Jun (born in 1970, Chinese nationality) entered Vietnam many times. On April 15, 2017, this subject continued to enter our country through Tan Son Nhat Airport, Ho Chi Minh City.
The very next morning, Ding Ying Jun continued to take flight VN216 of Vietnam Airlines from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. On this flight, Ding Ying Jun bought a business class ticket with 3 other passengers, including Mr. Le Cao Minh (born in 1974), residing in Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City and Mr. Cu Anh Tuan (born in 1972), residing in Cau Giay District, Hanoi.
As soon as the plane took off, Ding Ying Jun immediately moved his seat closer to where Minh and Tuan had their luggage. About 40 minutes later, noticing that the passengers in the business class were not paying attention, Ding Ying Jun quickly opened the luggage compartment, took out Tuan's leather bag, and then calmly sat there rummaging through it.

After taking 100 million VND and 400 USD inside, the Chinese man leisurely put Mr. Tuan's leather bag back in its original place. Not satisfied with the amount of money he had just stolen, Ding Ying Jun continued to rummage through Mr. Minh's luggage and stole an envelope containing 13,000 USD.
But just when this subject was rolling his eyes and fidgeting, Ms. Ta Thi Thu Huong (born in 1975, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) - Chief flight attendant of flight VN216 discovered his suspicious appearance. When she approached and asked, Ms. Huong was asked by Ding Ying Jun for a cup of tea.
Later, when the Head Stewardess brought the tea, she did not see the Chinese guest sitting in the same position anymore. Feeling her intuition, Ms. Huong immediately asked Mr. Tuan to check the property.
Upon receiving the news that 100 million VND and 400 USD had been stolen from a passenger, the chief flight attendant of flight VN216 immediately went down to the economy cabin to talk to the thief. However, Ding Ying Jun refused to admit to the theft in the business cabin.
To resolve the matter, Ms. Huong asked two colleagues to help monitor Ding Ying Jun, and at the same time reported the incident of a passenger losing money on the plane to the captain. At the same time, the Chinese thief also took out 2 bundles of money (in denominations of 500,000 VND/bill) and an envelope containing 13,000 USD and threw them into the luggage compartment.
When the plane with flight number VN216 landed at Noi Bai airport, Ding Ying Jun was handed over by the Chief Flight Attendant and the passengers who lost money to the waiting airport police force.
The investigation determined that Ding Ying Jun had stolen a total of nearly 400 million VND from Mr. Minh and Mr. Tuan. However, the foreign thief denied any wrongdoing, saying that he had only accidentally discovered the bundles of money and envelopes containing foreign currency in the luggage compartment and had hidden them on his person.
However, with irrefutable evidence, the Hanoi People's Procuracy issued an indictment and prosecuted Ding Ying Jun before the People's Court of the same level for the crime of "Theft of property", according to Clause 3, Article 138-BLHS. On the afternoon of November 6, the first instance trial of the subject of theft of property on the plane was opened, but had to be postponed due to some unavoidable reasons.
It is known that at the time of the theft of a particularly large amount of money on the plane as mentioned above, Ding Ying Jun was also wanted by Chinese authorities for theft of property in this country.
In addition, this case is not the first time that a female flight attendant of a Vietnam Airlines flight discovered and arrested a thief as soon as the plane landed.
Because one day in mid-November 2016, another female flight attendant with the same name, Huong (Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, born in 1975, residing in Hanoi) also discovered and promptly arrested a foreign thief who stole 4,000 USD and 50 million VND from passengers on flight VN170, from Da Nang to Hanoi.
