Going swimming, young man was swept away by waves and went missing

(Baonghean.vn) - At around 5:30 p.m. on July 14, while swimming at the beach in Quynh Luong commune, Quynh Luu district, a young man was swept away by the waves and went missing.

Mr. Nguyen Canh Sau - Chairman of Quynh Luong Commune People's Committee said that this afternoon, a group of about 5 young people from Quynh Luong Commune invited each other to go to a nearby beach to swim. While the group was swimming near the shore, 2 young men clung to a buoy to swim further away. When both of these young men were swimming about 100 meters from the shore, they unfortunately encountered big waves and strong currents, so they were swept away by the waves. Discovering the incident, Mr. Le Van Trieu, who was swimming nearby, quickly swam out to help the 2 young men. However, when he arrived, Mr. Trieu was only able to save one young man; the other young man was swept away by the waves and went missing.

Through identity verification, the lucky victim rescued by the people was Phan Duy Loc (a university student in Hanoi); and the missing young man was Nguyen Van Trung (23 years old, living in hamlet 7, Quynh Luong commune).

That same afternoon, the victim's family and local authorities organized all means to search, however, by 8:00 p.m. the same day, there was still no information about the victim.

It is known that the missing victim is currently married and is a senior student at a college in the North. Taking advantage of the summer break, the group of young people gathered to go swimming together.

Relatives and local authorities are still searching for the victims.
