(Baonghean) -With 45 years of achievements, growth, potential and new vitality, Con Cuong Ethnic Boarding High School deserves to be one of the educational and training cradles of the Southwest of Nghe An.

Con Cuong District Boarding Ethnic High School was established in 1967, with the first name of Con Cuong District High School. The school was formed on the basis of separation from Tuong Duong District High School, initially with only 3 teachers and 43 students. After one month of establishment, the school organized an education council with 9 teachers of all subjects and 1 office staff, with teacher Vi Van Phuc as Principal.

To adapt to the war situation, the school was first established in Lan village, Mon Son commune, a remote area with a long revolutionary tradition. With the enthusiastic help of the Party Committee, government and people of Con Cuong district and Mon Son commune, teachers and students started to build the facility with the initial classrooms made of bamboo frames, thatched roofs, earthen walls, half-submerged, half-surfaced design to avoid American bombs. In the first school year (1967-1968), the school mobilized 155 students to attend school, including 46 ethnic minority students; divided into 4 classes including two 8th grade classes, one 9th grade class and one 10th grade class.

During the years of the war against the US, the School had to evacuate to many different locations, experiencing countless difficulties, hardships and sacrifices. The most memorable event was the tragic event on the night of November 21, 1972, when American B52 bombers bombed the School area, injuring 2 students, 1 teacher and 1 officer. However, with the protection, shelter and help of the Party Committee, the government and the people of all ethnic groups in the district, the School still maintained its teaching and training activities and trained many courses, with hundreds of students graduating.

After peace was restored in the North, in 1973, the School moved to the district town, built classrooms, added teachers, expanded training scale and became a school with a long history of achievements in the mountainous area of the province.

Entering the period of innovation, with the attention of Party committees, authorities at all levels, the education sector and the people, the School continues to have important developments. Up to now, the School's facilities have been completely built, modern, with 39 solid high-rise classrooms, ensuring 1-shift learning, 4 theoretical and practical classrooms for Information Technology with 40 computers, 3 practice rooms for Physics - Technology, Chemistry, Biology and traditional rooms, with dormitories with enough space for 100 students, green, clean and beautiful landscape and environment. The team has more than 100 staff and teachers, 100% of teachers meet and exceed training standards; most of them are young, dynamic, have solid professional qualifications, are dedicated to their profession, many have achieved the title of Excellent Teacher at the provincial level.

After 45 years of striving and growing, the School has trained nearly 10,000 high school graduates, of whom thousands of students have passed the entrance exams to universities and colleges. In recent years, the School has consistently ranked 3rd and 2nd in Group B (including 34 schools) in terms of provincial excellent student exam results. Many students have passed the entrance exams to universities with high scores from 24 to 28.5 points.
