Bright spot of education in mountainous areas
(Baonghean) -With the number of students passing the junior high school graduation exam and the entrance exam to public high schools every year always reaching 100%, the number of good and excellent students every year reaching 80% or more along with many high achievements in the excellent student exams at all levels... Tra Lan Junior High School (Con Cuong district, Nghe An) has become a bright spot in education in the highlands, receiving certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training, the Prime Minister in 2009, 2010...
Established in August 2002 with two parallel tasks: fostering key quality for the whole district and attracting ethnic students from region 135, the quality of teaching and learning has always been a great pressure for Tra Lan Secondary School. Determining that "good teachers make good students", the school focuses on fostering the quality of the teaching staff in terms of professional qualities, professional expertise, student education capacity and the ability to apply information technology. Currently, the school has 29/33 teachers with qualifications above standard. 100% of teachers are excellent teachers at the district level, nearly 50% are excellent teachers at the provincial level. 100% of teachers have personal computers and are proficient in applying IT in teaching. Thanks to that, although the source of students is not as abundant as schools in the lowlands (each year, 120 application files are selected, only 95 students are admitted to grade 6, the rest must be taken from ethnic minority students in the region of 135), the training of students in gifted classes always achieves good results.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Duc Phoc presented computers to teachers and students.
Tra Lan Secondary School
The number of excellent students has increased rapidly over the years. In 2009, 29 students achieved provincial excellence, in 2010, 32 students achieved provincial excellence, in 2011, the whole school had 35 provincial excellence students. For three consecutive years, there have been excellent students in the province in the subjects of mathematics, physics, biology, and English; for two consecutive years, there has been Phan Boi Chau, the valedictorian of the 10th grade entrance exam in English, and the second-place winner of the Vinh University Mathematics major. In the 2009-2010 school year high school entrance exam, Tra Lan Secondary School ranked 12th out of 440 secondary schools in the whole province.
The school currently has 12 classes with a total of 350 students, including 146 students from communes in region 135, 93 ethnic students from region 135 (2 Dan Lai ethnic students). The biggest difficulty at present is the lack of boarding rooms, the new boarding house has not been completed so only 18 ethnic students from region 135 can stay in the dormitory, the rest have to rent accommodation outside. The school has to assign teachers to help both improve the quality of study and ensure the safety of the students. For students in especially difficult circumstances, every year the school mobilizes donations of books to encourage them to go to class, gives them gifts on the occasion of Tet, Mid-Autumn Festival, International Children's Day June 1... Although life is still difficult, all teachers register to help at least one student in difficulty, helping them go to school. Thanks to the dedication and devotion of teachers and the efforts of students to overcome difficulties, the overall quality is also guaranteed. Every year, the number of students with good academic performance accounts for 80% or more, over 90% of the entire school's students have good moral character, and no students violate social evils...

Teacher Tran Thi Kim Chau - Principal of the school, said: To maintain the title of National Standard School recognized since 2006, in addition to promoting the emulation movement of good teaching, good learning, Tra Lan Secondary School also focuses on enhancing extracurricular activities: taking care of families with revolutionary contributions, taking care of the district's martyrs' cemetery, visiting revolutionary historical sites, practicing life skills... towards the comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics for students. And that is also the way for this school with rich traditions to effectively carry out the movement to build "Friendly school, active students", rising to become an "educational bright spot" in a mountainous district with many difficulties, the poverty rate is 49.5% according to the new standards.
