Bright spot of education in mountainous areas
(Baonghean) - According to the policy of merging separate schools to improve the quality of teaching and learning, Hoi Nga Secondary School (Quy Chau) was merged from two separate schools of Chau Nga and Chau Hoi communes. Principal of Hoi Nga Secondary School - Nguyen Thi Nguyet said: "When implementing the merger policy, the school and the authorities of the two communes built a roadmap for propaganda and mobilization work for parents and students, creating high consensus. After the merger, the school's facilities were built spaciously with a team of excellent and dedicated teachers. In the 2013 - 2014 school year, for the first time, Chau Nga commune had excellent students at the district and provincial levels.
The facilities of Chau Nga Secondary School were handed over to Chau Nga Primary School for completion, aiming to reach national standards level I in 2015. Also from the policy of being close to and suitable to the requirements of the district's education sector in the new situation, during the past term, the school network was arranged, organized and merged reasonably to focus on investment in construction and improving the quality of teaching and learning. In 5 years, 4 inter-commune secondary schools were merged and established: Hoan Lam Secondary School; Tien Thang Secondary School; Hoi Nga Secondary School; Binh Thuan Secondary School. At the same time, 1 secondary school for ethnic minorities and 3 secondary schools for ethnic minorities were established (Chau Phong, Hoi Nga, Binh Thuan). By the 2014 - 2015 school year, the school network was stable (including: 37 schools, of which: Kindergarten: 12; Primary: 16; Secondary: 8; High School: 1).

To realize this policy, socialization plays a decisive role. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet - Hoi Nga Secondary School said that without the support of parents, organizations and individuals in the area in completing the boarding facilities, it would be impossible to have 13 boarding classrooms to carry out the merger well. In fact, during the past term, in the district, party committees at all levels, authorities, social organizations and the majority of people have become increasingly aware of the role, responsibility and tasks in the cause of education development. In the general difficult conditions, the sector has applied many policies and has had a relatively large source of socialized revenue.
Thanks to the ability to utilize social resources and the determination to overcome difficulties, during the past term, the district's education sector has built 30 national standard schools (the congress target is 26 schools). The construction of national standard schools for some schools such as Binh Thuan Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities - Secondary School, Hoi Nga... is a great effort of the sector and the school's staff and teachers. Hoi Nga Secondary School has persistently mobilized organizations and individuals, especially parents and local people to contribute labor and money to build facilities and purchase equipment for teaching and learning.
Binh Thuan Secondary School is a school that merged from two separate schools in Chau Binh and Chau Thuan communes. In the early days of the merger, the school encountered many difficulties in organizing classes and providing boarding conditions for students because of the lack of facilities. However, after only two years, with the attention of the industry and the propaganda efforts of the people, and the support of the school's teachers, the school has mobilized a large amount of support to complete the school's facilities. Teacher Pham Thi Quynh, Principal of the school, said: "The people of the two communes have invested in a spacious and clean brick yard for the school with a budget of more than 200 million VND. The school's Parents' Association has mobilized contributions from the people to have all the water filters for the classrooms, dozens of new desks and chairs. And in 2011, the school was honored to receive the title of national standard school".
Thanks to the facilities and standardization of the teaching staff, the school's teaching and learning conditions have been improved, and the quality of excellent students is higher than in previous school years. In the 2014-2015 school year, the school had 123/391 excellent students at the school level, 34 excellent students at the district level, and 1 excellent student at the province level. This is also the highest achievement ever of the school. During the last term, the Education Department of Quy Chau district mobilized 5 billion VND for socialized education and built 2 new standard classrooms.
To bring the Education and Training sector of Quy Chau to the top of the highland districts during its term, the quality of key education and mass education is required. In 5 years, there were 277 excellent students at the provincial level; 5 excellent students at the national level. 96.2% of the general education quality met the requirements or higher, the results of universal education at primary and secondary levels were sustainable.
Ms. Vo Thi Loc, Head of the Education Department of Quy Chau district, said: “The above achievements are first of all thanks to good consulting work for the Party Committee and the government. Then, the inspection and supervision work is carried out regularly based on the commitments that the school units have made to compete. Therefore, creating a vibrant competition, the academic achievements of teachers and students in schools are constantly increasing. I believe that with this direction, the goal of having over 90% of the district meeting national standard schools by 2020, the quality of excellent students continuously increasing after each school year is completely feasible.”
