(Baonghean) -Chosen by Do Luong district as a model for new rural construction, Thuan Son Party Committee focuses on leadership and direction in all fields, creating strong changes in criteria, and the face of the countryside is increasingly changing.

What is easy to see when visiting Thuan Son (Do Luong) now is that many roads have been concreted instead of dusty dirt roads in the sun and muddy in the rain. Leading us on a concrete road of more than 5km long, extending from the commune center to the hamlets and out to the commune's beach area, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, Mr. Tran Doan Quy said: "To soon complete the criteria for building a new rural area, the Thuan Son Party Committee has determined and directed the drastic implementation of key tasks, including: Focusing on directing the completion of planning and building a new rural area project to ensure quality, step by step and effectively implementing the criteria; implementing land consolidation and plot exchange associated with building production areas, restructuring, improving the efficiency of agricultural production; building essential infrastructure. All policies of the Party Committee and the government are public and democratic".

As a poor commune, completing the criteria for building a new rural area is not easy. Thuan Son Party Committee determined that, in the immediate future, it will focus on implementing internal traffic and irrigation. Rural traffic must take the lead, creating motivation and premise for completing other criteria. On that basis, the commune has built a roadmap, surveyed, and made plans to strive for Thuan Son to achieve the title of a new rural commune by 2015. The resolution of the commune Party Committee on building roads was deployed by the Party Committee to the village Party cells, and discussed and discussed democratically and openly with the people to reach an agreement; cadres and party members set an example in implementing first, then the villages simultaneously mobilized the people to build rural roads. In 2012, Thuan Son focused on site clearance and road expansion according to standards. During the implementation process, if there were any problems, cadres explained so that the people could clearly understand that building a new rural area is to renew and develop the face of the countryside.

Traffic roads in Thuan Son commune were upgraded thanks to the consensus of the people.

In the past 2 years, Thuan Son has mobilized people to contribute manpower and money to build 5km of inter-village roads, while doing a good job of improving the fields with a total commune contribution of over 2 billion VND and over 4,600 working days; at the same time, people have donated land and money to build new rural areas with a total amount of objects converted into money of nearly 800 million VND. Typically, people in hamlet 7 donated land, trees, and dismantled fences to build 540m of concrete road; hamlet 6, in addition to mobilizing people to contribute working days and land, also mobilized people to contribute an additional 22 million VND to complete 330m of concrete road; hamlet 4 mobilized people to contribute nearly 23 million VND to invest in pouring aggregate on a 270m long road. Hamlet 7 strives to become the leading hamlet in the whole commune in implementing the new rural criteria well". Comrade Ho Dinh Quang - Secretary, Hamlet Chief of Hamlet 7 Thuan Son: "By implementing publicity, democracy, and soliciting opinions from a large number of cadres, party members and the masses, when launching the movement to build village roads, cadres and people agreed to respond and actively participate.

Building new rural areas in the economic field in the context of the only traditional occupation of growing mulberry and raising silkworms, which has been lost, most of the cultivated area of ​​the commune is outside the dike, and is flooded every year... so the concern of the leaders of Thuan Son commune is to lead the people to change the structure of crops and livestock. To develop production and livestock, in the past 2 years, the commune has coordinated with departments and branches to open 3 short-term vocational training courses for farmers, organized 35 science and technology transfer sessions on pest control, disease control for livestock and poultry, and the use of pesticides.

On that basis, the Party Committee led the people to convert 45 hectares of ineffective rice production to color production, applying a support mechanism of 200,000 VND/peanut field, 300,000 VND/sao of squash; introducing more economically efficient crop varieties. Thanks to that, many fields in Thuan Son have generated high income, an average of 50 million VND/ha. In addition, to promote the advantage of the commune having a large area of ​​​​land, Thuan Son promoted the development of commercial cattle and breeding cattle. The commune coordinated with the Agricultural Bank and the Social Policy Bank to guarantee loans for people, especially poor households, to develop livestock farming.

Thanks to that, it has created a movement to develop cattle breeding in Thuan Son, on average each farming household in the commune raises 3-5 cows, some households raise dozens of cows, earning hundreds of millions of VND/year. On the other hand, to encourage trade and service development, the Thuan Son Party Committee has a policy to upgrade and build a local traditional market with a budget of over 1 billion VND. The operation of the commune's traditional market has led to the development of other services. Thuan Son Market has become a trading hub serving the surrounding area and some communes of Thanh Chuong district, contributing to creating jobs and improving the lives of the people.

From a poor commune, in the bottom group of the district, in recent years, under the leadership and direction of the Party Committee and the government, Thuan Son has made a clear change in the economic, cultural and social fields. The poverty rate of the commune decreased from 27% in 2010 to 10.3% in 2012, the people's lives have been constantly improved, the commune completed 9/19 criteria for building a new rural area. By 2012, Thuan Son was ranked in the top group (5th) of Do Luong district.
