Due to the nature of spreading very quickly, after checking the fields and detecting the disease, the district Plant Protection Station and the Dien Thai Commune Agricultural Extension Board organized a training session and sprayed the diseased areas. Mr. Cao Van Huyen - Head of Dien Thai Agricultural Extension Board said: The Agricultural Extension Board regularly visits the fields and detects pests early, and announces on the commune's public address system for members to spray promptly, limiting the spread of the disease.

Farmers focus on spraying to prevent rice blast disease |
Recently, due to warm weather conditions, early morning fog and also the period when rice plants are in transition to the growth period, it is very easy for rice blast disease to occur. Starting from the beginning of March, rice blast disease broke out in an area of nearly 20 hectares scattered in the communes of Dien Thai, Dien Nguyen, Dien Dong, Dien Cat, Dien Lien. The disease mainly occurs on fragrant rice varieties, most commonly BC 15, AC5, Khai Phong 1. As soon as rice blast disease was detected, Dien Chau district issued a telegram, directing communes to prevent rice blast disease. Plant protection station staff also directly inspected the fields, instructed farmers to prevent and control rice blast disease. For rice areas infected with rice blast disease, nitrogen fertilizer must be stopped, growth stimulants and foliar fertilizers must not be sprayed, and water must be kept in the fields.
Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of Dien Chau Plant Protection Station said: Currently, spring rice in Dien Chau district has appeared with blast disease on sensitive varieties such as AC 5, BC 15, Khai Phong 1. According to the investigation of the Plant Protection Station, the infected area is nearly 20 hectares. The diseased area is scattered in some areas, combined with people fertilizing rice for sowing, so that blast disease can spread widely. Faced with that situation, the Plant Protection Station has advised the District People's Committee to issue a telegram to prevent and control pests. The viewpoint of Dien Chau district is that we prevent early sowing without affecting the development of rice plants. The drugs we direct are mainly those that have been confirmed in the field such as Beam 75WP, Filia 525SE, etc. Based on that viewpoint, Dien Chau Plant Protection Station recommends spraying drugs according to the instructions, spraying enough water, 1 sao must have 16 liters or more to ensure that the rice leaves are evenly absorbed with the drug, and the highest prevention.

Dien Thai Agricultural Extension Board and Plant Protection Station guide people on how to prevent rice blast. |
With the characteristic of spreading very quickly, each day the blast disease can develop to dozens of hectares, causing the rice plants to wither, the leaves to burn, leading to a serious decrease in productivity, even total loss. Despite such serious damage, if detected early and timely spraying of pesticides, the rice plants will grow and develop normally again. Therefore, farmers need to actively visit the fields to promptly take timely treatment measures.
