Dien Chau: Hundreds of cluster bombs discovered during construction
(Baonghean.vn) –In Thuong village (Dien Yen commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An), a business was leveling the ground to build a pig farm. On May 10, it discovered hundreds of cluster bombs and mines while the excavator was digging a pond.
A worker said: when the excavator came up, they discovered three bomb craters, each crater contained about hundreds of cluster bombs, rusted, but many were still shiny. When they were first discovered, many people rushed to pick them up to sell as scrap metal, not knowing that it was very dangerous. Only when the person in charge of the area forbade them from picking them up did they stop.
Although people have taken them to sell as scrap, there are still many cluster bombs at the construction site.
However, until today (May 12), the bombs and mines have not been taken away by the authorities for disposal, while cars, excavators, and bulldozers continue to work busily. The construction site commander is still calm: "The bombs are old and cannot explode anymore, and we have already informed the Dien Chau district military command, in just a few days they will collect them and dispose of them" (!?)
The bombs have not been handled yet but the construction site is still operating normally!
It is recommended that authorities take immediate urgent measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
