(Baonghean.vn) -In recent days, heavy rains have affected the progress of the summer-autumn sesame harvest in Dien Chau district. Taking advantage of favorable weather, farmers have been actively going to the fields to quickly harvest sesame to prepare the land for winter crops.

Ms. Dao Thi Ba in Hamlet 11, Dien Thanh Commune said: "My family planted 1 sao of Japanese white sesame since April and the weather has been complicated recently, but thanks to the agricultural extension officers' guidance on care techniques, the yield reached nearly 7 yen. Just need to dry it in the sun, traders will come to buy it at 30,000 VND/kg". It is known that in this summer-autumn crop, Dien Thanh commune planted 150 hectares of sesame and thanks to the application of scientific and technological advances in production, it achieved high yields.
After completing the sesame area planning, people proceeded to clear the land.

This summer-autumn crop, Dien Chau district planted more than 2,100 hectares of sesame, concentrated in the communes of Dien Thinh (planting more than 400 hectares), Dien Trung (400 hectares), Dien Thanh (150 hectares)... Although people planted sesame with new varieties and boldly applied scientific and technological advances into production, in the past time, due to the impact of storms and rains, some sesame areas were completely damaged and the yield was not high. Ms. Hoang Thi Huong - Vice Chairman of Dien Chau District People's Committee said: "Currently, the district is propagating and mobilizing farmers to go to the fields to harvest sesame and in fact, the yield of this sesame crop is uneven, the average yield is expected to reach over 3 quintals/ha and the district will finish harvesting on August 5".
