Dien Chau: Honoring 74 typical advanced farmers

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 9, the Farmers' Association of Dien Chau district organized a Conference of typical advanced farmers with the participation of 74 typical farmer delegates in the emulation movements of the Association.

In the past 5 years, the Farmers' Association of Dien Chau district has launched and well-organized emulation movements. In the movement of Farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty, 9,849 households have been recognized as good production and business at all levels. Of which, 35 households have achieved good production and business at the central level, 584 households at the provincial level, 1,647 households at the district level and 7,583 households at the grassroots level. From the movement, many effective models have emerged.

Along with promoting the emulation movement of good production and business to get rich, Farmers' Associations at all levels in the district always focus on the goal of helping each other to sustainably reduce poverty, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the whole district from 11.36% in 2010 to 5.62% in 2014. Every year, each branch undertakes to help 1-2 households to eliminate poverty by supporting loans, seeds, materials, fertilizers, transferring scientific and technical advances and mobilizing members and farmers in the area to help with money and working days.

In the Farmers' Emulation Movement to Build New Rural Areas, farmers' association members in the district donated 467.83 hectares of land to build roads, canals and welfare works; mobilized tens of thousands of working days and contributed funds for irrigation with a total amount of 72.5 billion VND. Up to now, the whole district has 5/39 communes meeting the New Rural Area standards.
