(Baonghean.vn) - On March 27, Dien Kim commune (Dien Chau) held a ceremony to announce the Decision to establish a coastal fisheries co-management team.

Representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the CRSD Nghe An Project Management Board and related departments and agencies signed a memorandum of understanding on co-management and protection of coastal aquatic resources in Dien Kim.

This is the first commune of Dien Chau district selected by the Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development Project Management Board of Nghe An province (CRSD) to build a coastal fisheries co-management model, with a total of 206 fishermen participating.

The project was implemented over 5 years from the end of 2013 to 2017, with a budget of nearly 1.3 billion VND funded by the World Bank.

The Dien Kim coastal fisheries management team operates within a 6 nautical mile radius with an area of ​​about 37km. After its establishment, the coastal fisheries management team will actively promote awareness of the role and responsibility of fishermen in effectively coordinating the implementation of State regulations on exploitation and protection of aquatic resources, providing information on violations in aquatic resource exploitation, helping authorities take timely measures to prevent and handle them...
