"Unfortunately, we see that they are not ready to promote dialogue. However, President Putin is a very experienced and patient president of a patient country."
Mr. Peskov emphasized that since US President Donald Trump took office, President Putin has highlighted his goodwill to mend bilateral relations and "repair" the damage that former US President Barack Obama caused to Russia-US relations.
According to the Kremlin representative, Russia and the United States currently have many strategic issues on the agenda that can only be resolved at the highest level, and the absence of summits between the two countries' presidents goes against the national interests of both Russia and the United States.
Mr. Peskov added that the prospect of a summit between President Putin and his counterpart Trump on the sidelines of the upcoming G20 Summit is currently unclear, while emphasizing that President Putin has repeatedly expressed his goodwill to improve relations with the US.
Also in the interview, Mr. Peskov affirmed that the plot to cut Russia off from the global Internet infrastructure is clearly being carried out, as the country is facing sanctions and illegal threats from US commercial organizations.
Mr. Peskov also criticized the US for launching a trade war with Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturers and criticized Washington for confronting Iran, while affirming that Russia must take precautions, because international law can be undermined by "certain countries".
