Kremlin sets conditions for Russia to use nuclear weapons
(Baonghean.vn) - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov outlined the conditions under which Russia could use nuclear weapons, understood in the country's Nuclear Doctrine as "parting weapons".

According to Ria Novosti, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "Everything related to nuclear weapons is stipulated in our Nuclear Doctrine. And if not explained in legal language, then nuclear is understood as a "parting weapon". If something threatens the existence of Russia, then nuclear weapons will be used. Apart from this, there is no trigger".
The theoretical scenarios in which Russia could use nuclear weapons are outlined in the Russian military doctrine and in the “Fundamentals of State Policy in the Sphere of Nuclear Deterrence”. According to the documents, this could happen in the event of aggression against Russia, or in the event of an attack on Russia’s allies with weapons of mass destruction or aggression with conventional weapons.
In addition, in an interview with Soloviov Live TV channel on March 5, when asked by the host whether such statements by the French President were pushing the world to the brink of nuclear war, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin affirmed: "Yes".
Mr Naryshkin said French President Emmanuel Macron's statements about the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine showed the "irresponsibility" of European leaders.
In his State of the Union address to the National Assembly on February 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the scenario of the West sending troops into Ukraine could spark a nuclear war.
