Extra dies after fall on set

Nguyen Giau - a young man born in 1990 - did not survive after being hospitalized due to a fall on the set of 'Hung Ali and Sau Loc Coc'.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Bien - Nguyen Giau's father - confirmed that his son passed away at 11:40 p.m. on August 10, at the age of 25.

He said that around the end of July, he and his wife heard that their son had an accident while filming. He and his wife traveled from Kien Giang to Ho Chi Minh City to take care of their son. "On July 24, Giau was taken to the hospital in District 7 by the film crew, but then we were worried so we transferred him to Cho Ray Hospital. After staying at Cho Ray Hospital for four days, he was transferred to the Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital. But I did not expect my son to suffer such serious complications that led to his death," the father said sadly.

He said that his family is currently very poor. "My wife and I are both farmers. In the past few days, we have been able to take care of our son in the hospital thanks to the generosity of benefactors. Giau has just graduated from the Finance - Accounting major. He works as an extra because he loves acting so much and also to earn some extra income. Now we are taking care of the procedures to bring our son back to his hometown in Kien Giang to take care of the funeral," the father said sadly.

Nguyen Giau is one of the extras in the movie Hung Ali and Sau Loc Coc, invested and produced by Ung Hoang Phuc Entertainment Company and Ngo Entertainment Company.

According to an actor on set, around the end of July, when the film crew was filming a scene at a newly built apartment building in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, Giau also participated with many others. During the rehearsal waiting for the scene to be filmed, he fell face down from the first floor of the building. Immediately, the film crew took him to the emergency room.

During his treatment, there were times when Giau was still conscious and showed signs of recovery. However, according to his friends, Giau later died due to complications from a jaw surgery.

Regarding the information that supporting actor Nguyen Giau had an accident while filming, Ung Hoang Phuc said this was not true. The male singer affirmed that when he visited Giau at Cho Ray Hospital, Giau told him that the fall that led to the injury was because he was joking and slipped while he was outside the filming area. The film crew helped Giau's family with the expenses during his treatment at the hospital.

Meritorious Artist Viet Anh, who was also present on set at the time, said that at the time of the accident, Nguyen Giau was not filming but was just practicing outside, waiting for his turn.

The film Hung Ali and Sau Loc Coc (directed by Lam Le Dung) has just finished filming and is in post-production. The film has a budget of nearly 10 billion VND, marking the return of Ung Hoang Phuc after a long absence from the arts. This is also the first time the singer Tha rang nhu the has invested in a movie and played the main role.
