National survey on telephone, Internet and audiovisual popularization

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh has just requested the Ministry of Information and Communications to conduct a statistical survey on the current status of universal telephone, Internet and audio-visual services in 2015.

The Deputy Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of Information and Communications to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment (General Statistics Office), the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies to review and synthesize existing data sources, missing data areas and those that are really necessary to organize an investigation.

On that basis, complete the plan for statistical investigation of the current status of universal telephone, Internet and audio-visual services nationwide in 2015 as a basis for determining the cost of conducting the investigation to ensure thorough savings, efficiency and compliance with the provisions of the State Budget Law and related legal documents.

A national survey on telephone, Internet, audio-visual access is about to be conducted.

The surveys will update the current status of telephone, computer, Internet, radio and television usage in households, individuals, organizations, authorities, schools, commune-level health stations; infrastructure development, networks of enterprises, radio and television stations. The survey results are the basis for adjusting, building and perfecting information and communication development policies at each stage of development.

Up to now, Vietnam has about more than 130 million mobile phone subscribers.

Previously, according to Decision 803/QD-TTg dated June 28, 2012 on approving the national statistical survey program, the statistical survey on the current status of universal telephone, Internet and audio-visual services will be conducted by the Ministry of Information and Communications every 5 years for the complete survey (conducted in years ending in 0 and 5) and every year for the sample survey.
