Ministry of Public Security investigators work with Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chan
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chan just announced that on February 27, he and his son Nguyen Van Quyet continued to have a working session with officials of the Ministry of Public Security regarding the suspected case of forced confession in detention.
Providing information about the working situation surrounding the suspected forced confession case against his father, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chan (in Me village, Trung Yen commune - Viet Yen - Bac Giang), Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet said that 3 people in his family (including: Mr. Chan, Mr. Chan's mother and Mr. Quyet) were sent an invitation to work at the local cultural house by the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency.
Mr. Quyet said: “There were 3 officers working separately with 3 people in different places. The investigators asked me and my grandmother about the timeline of the case, from when we were arrested, what happened during the arrest, what happened when we visited the prison…”

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chan hopes that the authorities will soon compensate for his spiritual and material losses so that his family can stabilize their lives. |
The meeting ended quite quickly with 2 people, but for Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chan personally, the question and answer session lasted until almost the end of the afternoon of February 27.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Chan hoped: "I hope the authorities will quickly compensate for the losses caused so that my family can soon stabilize their lives and overcome difficulties." According to Mr. Chan and his wife, both of them are currently sick, especially his wife, Ms. Chien, who still has to receive daily treatment.
Moreover, the journey of many years to appeal for her husband's innocence has also forced Mrs. Chien to run around everywhere, borrowing and mortgaging assets. Until now, the family still owes many people a large amount of money. For example, they owe an acquaintance more than 100 million VND and 3 "red books" mortgaged to borrow money at the bank, but there is no money to pay off this debt... Not to mention that during the time he was wrongfully imprisoned, his family had to endure a lot of bitterness and humiliation, causing great mental damage.
Previously, on January 25, Mr. Chan was officially exonerated when the Ministry of Public Security issued a decision to suspend the case, suspending his role as a defendant in the murder of his neighbor in Me village 10 years ago.
However, since the time of his exoneration, Mr. Chan's family's life is still very difficult. Regarding the procedure for requesting compensation from the authorities for wrongful conviction, Mr. Chan hired a lawyer in Hanoi to resolve the compensation issues.
