Judge suspended from work for accepting bribe of 500 million VND to win case
After being prosecuted and detained for accepting bribes, Mr. Vo Dinh Som - Judge of Gia Lai Provincial People's Court was suspended from work.
This afternoon, August 16, information from the Gia Lai Provincial People's Court said that this unit has signed a decision to temporarily suspend Mr. Vo Dinh Som, Intermediate Judge, Chief of the Economic Court, Gia Lai Provincial People's Court, for 90 days.
According to the Provincial People's Court, the reason is because Mr. Som was prosecuted and detained by the Supreme People's Procuracy's Investigation Agency for the crime of receiving bribes.

In addition, the Gia Lai Provincial People's Court Party Committee has also sent a document requesting the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee of Agencies and Enterprises to suspend Mr. Vo Dinh Som from Party activities. The cases assigned to Mr. Som to judge will be reassigned to others.

As reported, on August 4, the Supreme People's Procuracy's Investigation Agency issued a decision to urgently detain Mr. Vo Dinh Som to investigate the crime of Receiving bribes.
On August 15, the Supreme People's Procuracy's Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute and detain Mr. Som to investigate the above crime.
Initial investigation results show that Mr. Vo Dinh Som was assigned to handle and try the civil case of “land use rights dispute”. During the process of handling the case, Mr. Som demanded that Mr. T. (plaintiff) pay 500 million VND to help Mr. T. win the case.
Then Mr. T. filed a complaint with the authorities.
