Indonesian Transport Ministry documents show that AirAsia flight QZ8501 crashed from Surabaya to Singapore on Sunday (December 28) in violation of its license terms.
The head of the Public Communications Agency, JA Barata, said: In the contract No. AU.008/30/6/DRJU.DAU-2014 dated 24/10/2014 regarding the Surabaya-Singapore (PP) route awarded to AirAsia, it is clearly stated that flights are only allowed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week, while the QZ8501 aircraft flew on Sunday.
The severe punishment for AirAsia's violations is to freeze the Surabaya-Singapore route, which will affect the travel of many people because this is a regular and convenient route to Jakarta, Lombok and other places.
Aviation authorities also assured that passengers who already had AirAsia tickets for the Surabaya-Singapore route would be transferred to another flight in accordance with current regulations.
Previously, on December 28, 2014, AirAsia Airbus A320-200 flight number QZ85021 from Surabaya to Singapore crashed. The last contact between the plane and the air traffic control station was at 6:12 (Indonesian time).
